View Full Version : What Comes in Must Go Out! -UPDATE US!-
AmyBoz 01-08-2005, 03:08 PM Okay, it's the weekend! How about if we all make a pledge to ourselves. If we buy anything this weekend (not including groceries) we have to get rid of the same amount of stuff.
For example, if you buy two shirts, you have to toss or donate or sell two shirts. If you buy a book, out goes a book.
They key to conquering clutter is keeping an even balance between what comes into your home and what goes out.
matt&roxy 01-08-2005, 03:44 PM I'll take that challenge.............:D
Makat2u 01-08-2005, 04:27 PM Amy I was thinking about doing this last night lol since I'm getting new clothes & don't have room for them all I thought it was time for some that I no longer wear to go so off I go to get this done:D
baxjul 01-08-2005, 06:11 PM Today I have cleaned out 7 cupboards in the kitchen. TWO X-Large garbage bags of junk. Some stuff to sell on ebay. Threw out a 4 slice toaster, going to buy a 2 slicer tomorrow. My dh can't figure out why everything is so organized now!!
AmyBoz 01-08-2005, 06:19 PM baxjul...WOW! That's impressive!
baxjul 01-08-2005, 07:02 PM AND, I just did one more!!!!!!!!! (Cupboard) I think that I am on a roll!!!!!!
gkp1031 01-08-2005, 07:43 PM I accept your challenge Amy!
couponchic 01-08-2005, 08:46 PM I will accept your challenge on my behalf. However, I cannot say the same for DH. We are going to Bass Pro Shop in Cinci tomorrow as DH received some gift cards for birthday and Christmas. I do know that he will buy lots of new goodies and I know that I will not be able to get him to part with his fishing stuff. He thinks that he can never have enough fishing stuff. Maybe I can coax him into getting rid of some stuff not fishing related though to maintain the balance. ;)
AmyBoz 01-08-2005, 08:56 PM Carrie, Accepting for yourself is just fine with me!!! :)

Ooooh, Mike would be so jealous if I told him where your dh is going! He's been looking at the new catalog since it came in last week. Mike is counting down the days until the big sportsman show here at the end of the month. Mike won't part with anything either, but at least he keeps everything neat and organized!
couponchic 01-08-2005, 09:26 PM Gina ~ DH always looks forward to the boat show they have here every year. Lots of boats, of course, but also fishing gadgets and such. We try to make it up to the Bass Pro Shop every few months, so he can keep up on the latest. And, I know what you mean about when the new catalogs come in. DH just loves getting them.
Missy 01-08-2005, 09:31 PM I will accept the challenge! I think I can do it!
gkp1031 01-09-2005, 09:26 PM Carrie--I told Mike you and dh go to Bass Pro every few months and he's sooo jealous!! He's hoping they build one close to us soon. We do go up to a shop in New Hampshire a couple times a year, nothing compared to Bass Pro, but still it has quite a bit of stuff.
AmyBoz 01-09-2005, 09:28 PM SOOO, how'd you do?
My weekend was easy. I didn't bring anything new in and I got something out in the form of a birthday present for the party Julia went to today.
gkp1031 01-09-2005, 09:37 PM Nothing in :) But, I did declutter more paperwork, so lots out in the recycling bin :)
Sara Noel 01-09-2005, 09:40 PM I'm going to go through Gabe's old clothes and purge this week. :) I don't know how much can be "flung", but I'm hoping for at least one bag out the door because one bag came in.
baxjul 01-09-2005, 09:51 PM Out - 1 toaster In - 1 toaster (smaller than original one)
Three large bags of junk from kitchen cupboards - 2 new bins in
Out - 1 shirt In - 1 shirt
Out - numerous pairs of dd underpants that she outgrew

That's good because all I bought was a new calendar and I have pitched several old ones to the recycling bin. Now, DH, on the other hand, should be well stocked on the fishing stuff for some time to come. (A girl can only hope. LOL).
couponchic 01-10-2005, 08:26 PM Gina ~ they are expanding our mall here and adding a sporting goods store (it's going to be another Dick's Sporting Goods), but DH was hoping it would be a Bass Pro Shops. I think it may be a good thing it's not or we'd probably be broke all the time.
We had a good trip yesterday. Another couple went with us and the drive wasn't too bad. They have a huge aquarium at the store and we were there in time to watch them feed the fish. It was pretty neat to watch.
Missy 01-10-2005, 08:41 PM Nothing came in...unless you count gassing up the van. and i got rid of a bunch of junk that was cluttering up my sewing desk. :)
momof42003 01-13-2005, 12:53 AM I have been doing this "program" with my dd. She brings home bag fulls of clothes and I then tell her to only pick out the best and only the ones she is sure to wear. Then she takes the same number of clothing out of her room, BEFORE she can bring the "new " ones in... It is a great thing to do.. Oh ya, I have done my share too.;)
QuilterMom 01-13-2005, 12:34 PM I didn't buy anything over the weekend.
I did come home with several magazines from the freebie bin at the library. I have almost finished looking through them and already have the ones I'm finished with piled up in a basket to pass along to my friend. :)
