What does your check go towards? General savings? Special fund? Etc?

Mine gets directly deposited into savings and then we transfer (free online) money over into check when it's needed to pay bills. Dh's goes into checking.

Both of our checks go into the checking account. After I pay bills, I transfer what is left into the savings account. I leave the bare minimum in the checking account.

Mine goes into my personal checking account. I transfer $30 a week out into my personal savings account, and transfer money into our joint checking account to pay bills with, usually every two weeks. Rigt now, DH keeps tabs on the joint account, so I just transfer whatever amount he tells me we need. Back when we were both employed, we just transferred $600 every two weeks, which covered bills plus an extra "cushion" that we promptly went through when we moved back home 3 months ago.

I deposit mine into checking and then transfer some into savings for my "car payment" to myself. What's left is spent on bills.

Mine goes into our checking account and most of it gets eaten up by our high auto insurance rates due to having a 17 year old driver in ur family!

Mine goes into savings, dh is retired and his pays the bills. Mine is what we live on. We have found out this way we save. Otherwise we blow it all. We both HATE taking it out of the bank. cau

Since I'm the only one with an income--- it goes to pay it ALL!

Both our checks get paid into our joint checking by direct deposit. Since I get paid once a month and DH gets paid once a week, we've arranged all of our direct debits to come out the day after I get paid. We then use DH's check to buy groceries, pay our babysitter (which we might not have to do anymore if DH gets this new job he's applied for - fingers crossed!) and put into savings.

Mine goes into my personal checking account, $50.00 directly into our savings. Usually I tranfer more into savings, it depends on what bills need paid. Mine goes for various bills and groceries. I work at the bank, so I can transfer money at will, w/o fees.;)

Our checks both go into our own checking and savings accounts.

I get paid every 2 weeks. One will go into the bank and goes towards my car payment, the next one will usually get cashed and used to buy groceries, fill up the car with gas and pay the water bill. What's left out of that one will be my spending money and I can usually stretch it out the rest of the month.

Until recently, I have given 2/3 to dh for bills and used the rest for the odds and ends we need. This past month, however, I have begun saving 10.00 a week for an EF. I'm up to $40.00...hmmmmm Which reminds me...I need to post it for the Jan. EF and change my amounts in my sig. :)

We actually do the reverse of most couples. We live primarily off of my income ( I work in mental health) with my husband's income (he gives private guitar lessons) as a supplement. It means that we rely on me to work and for benefits, insurance, etc; but it allows him to live his dream...i think it's a fair trade :)

My check goes to my personal checking. his to his personal savings/checking then we each put $1,000 per month into joint checking to cover household expenses. Our names are on each others accounts for emergency purposes, but to reduce the agrivation we keep seperate accounts.
