A really neat experiment to go along with learning about fire safety.....

Fire needs oxygen to burn. Light a jar candle or put a tea light or votive in a small jar and light the candle. Show your child that the flame is burning. Then, put a lid on the jar - this will shut off the oxygen supply and the flame will extinguish.

My ds thought this was pretty neat. :)
