Has anyone used one of these? I am thinking we need to because our water heater is in the garage. I am wondering if it will really make a difference is our gas bill.

(For instance, there are strict guidelines for installing a blanket around a gas water heater due to pilot light considerations.)

(Some newer models are so well insulated that you don't need to wrap them. Check first to see if adding an insulating blanket to your water heater will affect the affect the warranty.)

For gas water heaters, don't insulate the top. Note the gas valve and burner access door near the bottom of the tank. Cut the blanket so it is at least two inches away from these.

Me personally, I wouldn't be comfortable insulating a gas water heater because of safety issues. I don't think dh's company will insulate a gas heater for that reason.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check our manual. I was wondering because I saw the handyman guy on the weather channel do this.

We used to have one years ago on our Water heater but that was run off our oil heater. I covered it myself . It worked well but
I would not do a gas one for safety reasons.
