What do you give your kids for afterschool snacks, or when dinner is not quite ready, and they're "starving" :) but you don't want them to get too full before dinner? My son just came home from school and had a piece of apple pie. And now he's having chips and salsa. I tried to encourage him to have some fruit, but he's "So Hungry"

My kids get cheese sticks, cheese and crackers, occasionally pudding, popcorn, cheeze it crackers, yogurt, fruit, baby carrots, jello, graham crackers, bagel, luncheon meat rolled with cheese or cream cheese, granola bars, nuts, etc.

On a good day they might get a homebaked cookie outta me before dinner. :D

when my kids were at school, they'd come home and make themselved a huge - about 1 inch slices - vegemite sandwich which they'd have with some milk. That usually got them through till dinner time, if it didn't they had cheese and crackers.

Rhonda, I don't know if that was meant to make me smile, but it did :D

Yogurt or fruit! Of course if there's pie around, they most likely wouldn't give in until they've had a slice. ;)

you can always give them an "appetizer"...broccoli w/ranch dip or some cucumber slices, etc...that way they get their veggies out of the way.
