So I get home from work... I've got my 2 hours of alone time to actually get some work done. I start the 4 loads of laundry, get the dishes running, take the dog out, open the windows (it was a high of 54 degrees yesterday (today is high of 34!!!)), and just start on some basic cleaning.
Before I know it - it's an hour until the boy is to be home (the 11 y/o). WOW - have I got a lot to do.... but...

WAIT...
the front bath has all the cleaning supplies the boy left in there from the wkend. I'll have him do it. *thinking: responsibility*
Then I go into his room to see what the dog's doing & to feed him & see he didnt clean off his desk or dresser as I'd ask him to do by 6pm Monday (it was Sun. but he wasnt feeling well, legitimately, so I delayed a day & had been reminding him since the previous Friday).

So I get a little perturbed. He walks in the door and I ask him if he's got hw, he does & tell him he's in trouble & to see me when he's finished his hw.
He comes straight to me in his pouty "i'm gonna cry" face, with shoulders slumping.

I say "you've lost you computer privileges for the day" (I'd swear he's addicted to it!!!). He gets this "NOOO" look *giggle*.
I say "you didnt straighten your room as asked, now you have to clean it... you didnt put away the clenaing supplies in the bath...."

Here in interrupts me... and states "but I didnt clean the bath this wkend."

*laugh* DING DING DING.... round 2 for mama!

Okay, so I add to clean & put away supplies for the bathroom.

THEN he complains to his friend that he cant play cuz he's gotta clean the house.

NOOO he didnt. I ask "are you complaining or do you really want to clean the WHOLE HOUSE?"

"no i'm not complaining"

Shortened version... he ends up cleaning both the bath & his whole room and doesnt complain again about not being able to use the pc (hell, he's gotta gameboy & xbox & a nintendo system (can't recall which one) to play with. But the pc is the one he's MOST partial to!)

So here's to all the posts to "ME" Time - Thanks!

IT WORKED!!!

:D

Now... to keep it up!

Wow, keep it up, I guess i will just live vicariously through you, cause I cant get my boys to do hardly anything. However, I told Shane to take the overflowing trash out this morning, he said okay, wait. I told him he would bewaiting for a ride to school in a minute and he is taking the trash out theis very minute.

Being a mom is a hard job!
