Hi. I'm looking for information on how to make window quilts and heat catchers for energy savings. We've had a hard cold winter and my utility bills for the last 2 months almost caused me to hyperventilate. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hello , I made mine like a regular quilt. With a large enough rod pocket so that a curtain rod would go threw it. Put it on a curtain rod. And it keeps the cool out in the winter and the heat in the summer. When I want the light or sun in I pull it back like you would a curtain. No big deal in my home. Hopes this helps. Juju

heat catcher?
never heard that before.

I bought some insulated curtains at jc penny outlet and they helped so much... !!!
Not only with conserving energy but with light and noise too.

I have heard of people using thermal blankets purchased from wally world or other places to make curtains from. They say that they work very well to keep the windows insulated.

I too bought thermal curtains from JCpennys about 5 months ago and Have noticed a bit of drop in the draft and window loss. Hope they work well for the summer heat. Never heard of the quilt, but anything that helps is a great idea to me...we have a plastic paint sheet ceiling over are vaulted ceiling area. Not the best looking, but very necessary for the heating bill.
