Heating oil is KILLING US this year. homesteadmamma 03-14-2005, 01:46 PM I'm not sure what oil is in Canada but thats a huge amount to have to pay. I can see why its killing you. Darlene 03-14-2005, 03:27 PM Sorry Nikki! No fun at all. Hollyhandi 03-14-2005, 03:40 PM I feel your pain because we live in upstate NY and its killing us also.. Our last bill was 234.1 gallons at $1.92 = $450.00 I sure hope it lasts until summer, with this cold its using it way to fast. momof5 03-14-2005, 03:45 PM It's up to about a $1.90/gallon here in CT. We paid $1.80/gallon for some reason last time. I remember when filling up the entire tank was a good $200. Darlene 03-14-2005, 06:09 PM If you can get some money saved up you can do what we do and that is pre pay your heating oil.(I think most oil co. have a simular program) We lock in a price & pay all our heating oil in June. So this year they said it was 1.48 gal. and based on our use of 360 gal for a year we prepaid $533. So as long as we don't go over 360 gal we're all set. Some years the regular prices go below what we paid and we were out of luck but that doesn't happen often. Nice having it all paid and not get that monthly bill. We don't use much oil because we use our fireplace that has an insert in it that cranks the eat thru the house. We cut down our own trees, split & stack to save $$.:) Tree0164 03-27-2005, 11:10 AM We just had our tank filled last week and it was $2.30 a gallon. Cost us our $360. I never had to do a budget plan but if oil keeps going up. I would rather pay a set amount each month and have that amount adjusted each year. PrairieRose 03-27-2005, 02:29 PM You know what stinks? We live about 6 miles from one of the 5 largest refineries in the US and we pay the national average for petroleum products, now how unbelievable is that?! I'm sorry your heating oil is so expensive. I feel your pain for more reasons than one. We use natural gas to heat our home and it's outrageous too (AND we have a nat. gas plant about 3 miles from us:mad: ). ktboop1 03-28-2005, 01:25 PM I feel your pain..we live in WI. We buy 125 gallons of oil at a time and it costs between $225 and $245. On March 1st, we bought 125 gallons for the third time this winter!! This will be our last one because it is finally warming up and what we have will last through the rest of the cold nights. I will be so glad to go a few months without that bill! This was our first winter in our own home and the oil price was a shock to us. We are replacing some old drafty windows this summer so that should help for next year. Take Care! Renee :drama: |
