View Full Version : Are you a one income family? QuilterMom 05-16-2005, 10:53 AM Are you a one income family? Julia Kimber 05-27-2005, 10:25 AM Yes I don't go out to work, just dh's wages coming in. Julia PrairieRose 05-27-2005, 11:00 AM Same here. mommy2many 05-27-2005, 12:54 PM Yes and no LOL While our main source of income is My Dh's income since I don't work, but I also make money on eBay and get child support for my older girls. daddys3chicks 05-27-2005, 12:56 PM Yes, officially we are now. I quit both of my PT jobs and my last day working at the preschool was Thursday. Darlene 05-27-2005, 01:13 PM Yes.:) tightwadmommy 05-27-2005, 02:08 PM Yes.:D Kat27 05-27-2005, 03:24 PM Kinda sorta. DH works and I make money writing and on ebay. AmyMCGS 05-27-2005, 06:10 PM One and a half here. :D I only work 12 hours a week at my paid job. Daphne 05-27-2005, 06:14 PM We are - kind of. I make some money with my business but mainly it is Malcom's job. rebecca 05-28-2005, 06:36 AM One income family Telephus44 05-29-2005, 02:10 PM Yes, but not by choice. DH became unemployed about 7 months ago and is still looking for work. Would like to be a 2 income family right now :D frugalbutterfly 06-01-2005, 03:41 PM Yep we have just one income and will for at least the next few years since I can not work, I just gotta focus on me and my healing for now YankeeMom 06-01-2005, 06:14 PM Just one income for now. We've been a one-income family for the last 5 yrs. thrifty gal 06-01-2005, 08:40 PM Yep-one income family here. I have been a SAHM for almost 2 years now. mom2knk 07-01-2005, 11:46 AM We are also a one income family.........I have been a SAHM for 16 years now! Michelle 07-01-2005, 11:58 AM Yes, one income here :) MagsBags 07-01-2005, 02:14 PM We've been a one income family for 5 years now. :) SewCrafty 07-01-2005, 02:37 PM Yes :) patches 07-01-2005, 03:03 PM I'm not to that point yet...I won 1st place in an essay contest for GM PRO (greenhouse and nursery trade journal) and I just recieved a free subscription and a classified ad for writing an article. Hubby poo-poohed the first time I got published because I didn't make any money. The $500 check for 1st place helped convince him I think. Now, I am working on learning photography. I guess books and magazine articles are different animals. Until I start making some serious money with my writing, I reckon we will be considered a one income family. Originally posted by geniebird We're kinda, sorta here too. Bob brings in the income we can count on. I supplement with income from writing and selling my art -- but both of those are very undependable. Book royalty statements only come twice a year and don't always include checks. We never plan on money from what I do, but when it does come it sure is welcome. Budgetmom 07-06-2005, 03:35 PM Yep. For almost 3 years now. For the first couple of years, I still made about 3,000 per year doing technology work for the school I used to teach at. But as of June of this year, I have resigned from that position, so I will be bringing in $0 for the first time since I started working at age 12 (babysitting). It is a strange feeling. psjkmom 07-06-2005, 04:10 PM We're one income. As a sahm to 4, I like to say I'm unemployed but not out of work! Mamaw 07-06-2005, 06:53 PM No both of us work full time. I actually make the larger salary right now. patra 07-18-2005, 12:52 PM we are a one income family-since i was six months preganant Kira is 11 months old now.Dh works i have begun to sell some things on ebay. canadian gardener 07-18-2005, 12:56 PM yup, us too!:D DawnM 07-18-2005, 01:49 PM Yes, we've been a one income family for 23 years now ... since just before our first child was born. marjorie 07-18-2005, 07:48 PM One income since interrupting hubby on a date to tell him I was in labor with child 2... Goodi2shooz 07-20-2005, 02:22 AM We are a sort of 1 1/2 income family... my dh works all year full time and I work from Feb to June full time..so I have the rest of the year off.. my job pays for my daughter's school. We are working towards having me stay at home year round. momof42003 09-10-2005, 01:25 AM We are a one income family... We have always been a one income family, except at the very beginning, and by choice for about a year a few years back... I don't "have" to work.. DH makes enough for the both of us. LOL;) PurpleButterfly 09-10-2005, 01:36 AM Yes, we are. I've been at SAHM for 11 yrs now. :D blink041 09-11-2005, 11:26 AM im a SINKy (single income,no kids-well not human babies!-still have the cats):paw: sarathom 09-11-2005, 01:56 PM Yes, we are a one income family. We have been since the birth of our first child over 6 years ago. krisathome 09-12-2005, 10:58 AM We are mostly a one income family. I make alittle fun money by selling gift baskets and rubber stamped cards. Otherwise my dh is the sole income provider. babetteq 09-12-2005, 12:46 PM Mostly s/o income. I do between one and three shifts a week between the burger joint and the post office. I've given my notice at the post office though and the burger place shuts down for the winter, so I'll be, thankfully, back to just housework. If ind it breaks up the week too much for me and I can't keep on a schedule (which I need if I want to get anything done). babs mom22grls 09-12-2005, 01:06 PM We're one income. In the past, I've picked up money doing odd jobs (painting, babysitting, computer work) while DD1 was in school, but not for awhile, now. Rachel Barratt 09-15-2005, 07:32 PM I've been a stay at home mum for the past 9 years. We just live on my husbands income. armywifeandmomof3 09-15-2005, 11:37 PM Yup one income! DH is in the Army. I sell some stuff on ebay and go to school full time. We'll be one income until all the kids are in school full time. JustMegan79 10-03-2005, 07:05 PM We just officialy became a one income fa,ily. So's income only, I quit applebees because I discovered I was driving 20 miles each way to work 5 hours and makes 45$ 3 days a week.....and not devoting enough time to schoolwork, so therefore at 3$ a gallon of gas, plus extra clothes washing, food, etc, it wasnt worth it. I will say I am a little unnerved not having my own *cash* but we shall see how this goes. I told So my job is now to do well in school, and save money, not make money. :) Megan pammy 10-08-2005, 09:09 PM *waving* I'm a new 'single income' one, too. Quit job just this past Monday. Figured out it was costing me more to work than I was bringing home. Now I can concentrate on saving us money, instead of spending it. staceyy 10-08-2005, 09:21 PM My husband works full-time but I work part-time due to job down-sizing and illness. Scattymum 11-07-2005, 04:23 AM We just have DH income, I will go back to work in a couple of years - we could do with the extra income with me working but have done the calculations so many times - by the time I would pay tax and childcare I would come out with hardly anything and thats just not worth it! dwallyfam 11-07-2005, 08:28 AM We are a single income family but for us it is DH who is staying home. He lost his job a year ago and he can't find anything that doesn't pay over $6 and hour. So it is more economical for him to stay home right now. Tara2126 11-07-2005, 12:02 PM Single income family here too. |
