And I am starting to get nervious. lol

In two weeks we are going to pull up the carpet in our living room and dining room and refinish the floors. We are also going to repaint the ceilings, change light fixtures, putty up some nail holes and gaps between the ceiling and wall and rewall paper both rooms.

The most remodeling experience I have is repainting. Dh has done a lot of exterior stuff in the past, but not a lot of interior work. I hope we are not getting in over our heads.

The floor sander comes with an intruction video, so that will be helpful. Everyone I have talked to that has done it said it isn't that hard, just a bit time consuming. The painting, puttying and light fixtures are fairly easy jobs. My dad and grandma are going to help with the wallpaper. I think I am most nervious about the floor.

We have been busy gathering supplies for the job. The theme we are going for is homespun Americana. We found a beautiful ceiling fan for the living room and chandeler for the dining room. The are both finished in this rustic brass color. The color is kinda like old pennies. For the walls we got this creamish/wheatish colored wall paper with blue flecks. The wall paper is really thick to help cover up the rough parts of our ancient plaster walls. For a boarder in the living room "homespun angels" and for the dining room "homespun americana hearts and stars". I found the coolest rug for the living room. It looks like a patchwork quilt and will go great with our homespun look.

Does anyone know if you can scotch guard a run to help repel stains? The rug feels like carpet fiber. It was fairly expensive $150 and I would hate for it to get yucked up.

I can't wait until the rooms are done. They will be really pretty and totally our taste. This will be the first time we have actually had a room(s) that are our taste. In the past we have just lived with what the previous owners/tenents have liked. I am so excited!

Good luck! We are in the shopping around, measuring, and planning stages of finishing off the extra room off of the basement to turn it into the guest room/computer room so this room can eventually become a 2nd child's room. I'll be interested to follow your progress!
