I remember the first time I saw Amy and heard about her thrifty ways she was on Phil Donahue Show.
I always wanted her newsletter but never sent for it.

View Full Version : When Did You First Find Out About TWG? Hollyhandi 06-16-2005, 08:29 AM I remember the first time I saw Amy and heard about her thrifty ways she was on Phil Donahue Show. I always wanted her newsletter but never sent for it. Prairiemom 06-16-2005, 08:45 AM I read about her in an article in Parade that came with our Sunday paper. I sent away for one of the newsletters and ended up subscribing and ordering all the back issues. PrairieRose 06-16-2005, 09:50 AM I saw her on the Donahue show as well. I sent away for the newsletters and bought the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Tightwad Gazzettes as they came out. Jayne 06-16-2005, 10:29 AM I also read the article in Parade, in fact I still have the article!!! Hollyhandi 06-16-2005, 10:44 AM I at first thought she was a nut case, but as I watched the show something clicked. I have the 3 books combined version. My mom and dad had to scrimp and save but not to her level so I thought we were doing real good. I have learned a few things since then. Mom23boys 06-16-2005, 10:57 AM The first time I heard of her was on the Phil Donahue show as well. I thought she had some great ideas. I wanted to send for her newsletter, but never did. I did buy her TW books tough. jlxian 06-16-2005, 11:09 AM I saw the article in Parade magazine also. homesteadmamma 06-16-2005, 11:37 AM Originally posted by Mom23boys The first time I heard of her was on the Phil Donahue show as well. Me too. tightwadmommy 06-16-2005, 03:23 PM The first I heard of her was through my oldest sister.Who was always very frugal. She did get me hooked,I have all the newsletters and books. mom2knk 06-16-2005, 03:33 PM I saw her on Phil Donahue too!!!:D I also thought she was a little out there but I did get her books and I have gotten 1 of her update newsletters! jettsmom 06-16-2005, 05:25 PM It must have been Phil Donahue. She really inspired me at first. I just didn't get into back then. Wish I had. I checked her books out from the library a few times and finally bought the Complete TG last year when someone had it for $5. pita1213 06-17-2005, 06:36 PM i'm a newbie to the TWG compared to y'all. i heard about it on the FM's board in 2000 or 2001. debbiepittman 06-17-2005, 07:32 PM I've never really seen it only heard of it here. Debbie kaykwilts 06-17-2005, 08:04 PM I saw her in Parade magazine. I then purchased her first book and subscribed to her newsletter. I haven't purchased book 2 and 3 because I have all the newsletters after the first book. Dixie 06-17-2005, 08:23 PM I first heard of her through the Parade mag article. She reminded me of my mom's frugal ways. :) Telephus44 06-18-2005, 10:41 AM I ran into it when I first started my quest to live more cheaply - I spent a lot of time online looking at frugal sites (like this one!). I don't remember whether I heard about it here or on another board. I bought it from Amazon with a GC I got for my birthday. |
