How do I get rid of gnats??

Someone hid a onion and it went bad,now I have a kitchen full of the little pests. I hate spraying chemicals around food areas,since I don't have the energy to scrub everything down. Help!!??

Take a jar and put about an inch of cider vinegar in it. Put it out for the little critters to feast on, only they drown with greed. I get these in the fall and this works great. Don't put a lid on the jar, just leave it out where they are hanging out. HTH!
