A few months back Unilever had a huge rebate offer through CVS pharmacy. It included a bunch of Suave products, Caress, Finesse, Ragu, Lipton and maybe a few others. I spent a lot of time matching sales and coupons to the rebate offers, and everything came out free or very nearly free--a really great deal.
Well, yesterday I got a letter from Unilever saying I had failed to provide proof of purchase (even though I sent in my receipt and wrote all the UPCs on the rebate form as specified. Basically the letter said I had 14 days to resubmit the missing materials. The frustrating thing is that they kept my receipt and form, so I now have no records of my purchase. (Don't think they want to make it very easy to resubmit.)
Today I called the customer service number, and they basically said they couldn't help me w/o knowing how much I spent, what I bought or the date I bought it. (Even though I mailed them all that info.)
This is super frustrating b/c I know I sent them the required materials. I of course wish I had made copies of everything, but I've never had a rebate rejected before and didn't expect this problem.
I just can't believe a big company like Unilever handled things so poorly. I intend to write a letter of complaint, but don't know what else to do. Did anyone else participate in this rebate and run into a problem? Or does anyone happen to have a copy of the form?
This would have been a big rebate check, and now it looks like I'm going to be stuck picking up the tab. Grrr.
