I got the Joy of Cooking for a quarter! Great for my collection! I also got a book on container gardening for a quarter, and 2 brand new Chia Pets for $1.00. I'll use the Chia Pets for church when we have our bean auction.

I bought a box of books, too, but the lady decided to chase me to the car and take them back. She didn't want to take only $2.00 for them. (That's all they were worth, she thought they were a fortune)

I normally do not hit garage sales.. work on Fridays, and perfer to stay in on Saturday mornings .. then the best stuff is all gone.

I will be hitting the ones in my neighborhood next weekend, though. My neighborhood Association is encouraging everyone to have a community garage sale. My husband and I have spent hours doing flyers to promote it (along with several neighbors).. so now I have to go and see what we accomplished...

besides that all the bargain on a few dozen streets... I can handle that :)

I love going to garage sales. My sister and I go together throughout the summer and it is a great way for she and I to spend time together. We love helping each other find bargains.

Every year the church near my house has a huge fair and part of it is a HUGE white elephant sale which is essentially a big garage sales with CHEAP prices. It is stuff that the members of the church donate and all proceeds go to the church.

Last year my sister got TONS of clothes for her son (6 yrs old then) and we figured out it cost her $0.10 per item! :)

It is next weekend 7/12-7/14. She and I have already planned to go garage sale-ing all morning and then we'll go to the church when they open at noon for the festivities! :)

If anyone lives near Rancho Santa Margarita, CA..I suggest you check it out!

Way to go, Amanda and Danielle! :dancing:

There haven't been many yard sales around here lately. Ours tend to be heavy in the spring and fall when the weather is cooler.

It was just too hot to yardsale this morning. It was 85 degrees at ten am. The prices seem to be a bit higher than other parts of the country. I am so jealous that y'all can get stuff as cheaply as .10, I am amazed!!
