They went up more than that here. The stations near us were $2.25 just a couple of days ago. They are $2.43 today. :sigh:

reg unleaded in 2.69 here then add 10 cents for each higher grade.. I'm showing my age now... lol
I can remember when gas was 19 cents a gallon. I think the price of gas is really bad...... But you need it so most people will pay the price.

Where ?

I don't think you can expect this to stop. It will go up and up and up. And it will make EVERYTHING more expensive.

As long as the crude oil prices are going up, you can expect to have higher gas prices at the pump. Along with that, there is a huge demand for gas right now, including a large country who is wanting more and more oil.

I don't expect to ever see gas prices where they were before. You might see them drop, but not a huge amount.

I think its time we all look at different transportation. Our van to fill it right now costs us just over $100. Were walking as much as possible and combining trips because its just gotten too costly.

I can't imagine what heating fuel is going to be this winter!!!!

I am soooo glad we bought our propane for this winter LAST week. A 500 gal. tank cost us $400, but that with our wood stove will last us nearly 2 years.

My news station just reported that in some places the gas prices may rise to over $4.00/gal. That's just down right frightful.

I know once the kids start school, I'll be doing a lot of walking to pick them up *sigh*

I wouldn't expect a drop anytime soon. I decided to start walking to and from work to save on fuel. We were hoping to have a house by now, but not yet and oil is our only source of heat. I am very scared about how much it's going to cost us.

This school year I have to drive my son to PreK everyday. There is no one in my neighborhood that goes to the same school so no carpooling. Most of the places I shop at and our Dr's are inroute (or not too far off) from my son's school so I'll just try to do my errands and appts when I pick him up/take him in.

I know gas prices are really hurting us. My husband commutes 3 hours a day. We are trying to figure out our best options. I am making less trips to town. I haven't even been going to yard sales because of the price of gas! We live about 20 minutes from town. We might have to go back to a horse and buggy!

I forgot to say, the other day I went to town. While leaving Wal*Mart I stopped to get gas. Not paying attention to the prices. I needed it so I went to the place I know has the cheapest gas. They had several cars waiting to fill. I comented to the attendant when it was my turn that they were really hoppin'. He said the BP up the street had just raised their prices, nearly 10 cents!!!! Boy, was I glad I chose that moment to fill up.
We aren't doing dance this year and we will all drive to school together, everyday. If someone has to stay after school for some reason, we will all wait.

Gas prices hiked up here today too! We have a lot of service obligations that we are committed to. We waited for the day when we would have free time to do it and now it's almost to the point we can't because of the fuel prices.

We live in a rural area and we are driving just about every day now.

And I too, hate to see the prices of heating fuel this winter. Maybe it would be safer to move into the greenhouse and burn wood.

Can anybody say...write your President and Congressman and tell them to do something?!? NOW!!! :toothy:

We've got the oil. We shouldn't have to pay that much.

we are paying over a dollar a liter. 4 liters to the gallon.

Last weekend it was 1.09 a liter or 4.36 an American gallon.

I can't believe it but it dropped, and I was grateful we paid 1.03 per liter.

Dh and I are rationing it. So much per payday. I'm doing what I can, but I am SO thankful we chose to buy a house as close to dh's work as we did, that one choice has saved us a ton of money just in gas alone, and more as the prices rise.

I have to drive my kids to school too. They're schools start about 5 mins apart, but walking distance apart is 15mins, there's no way I'd be able to get them all to school on time.

But I can walk to pick them up. I definitely plan on it. My biggest downfall is when it's really cold or it rains, I know I won't walk. I'll just have to cut back some other way.

It is $2.49/gallon for regular unleaded here. Outrageous! It is time for the government to get involved in some price regulations here. I know that will happen when pigs get wings and fly  . I guess we will all have to remember how much help they have been in this when we vote next time.

Anyone notice since the King of Saudi Arabia died, gas has gone up even higher?

YankeeMom, can't you just drop one of them off 10 minutes early?

(Asked by somebody who has no clue because I have no child in school. But when I was a kid you could get there about 1/2 hour before school actually started and that was fine.)

On Friday evening the gas went down by 2 cents (2.29 to 2.27) The very next morning, it jumped to 2.39...that is just for reg. Dh has to go to various places out of town this week & its going to suck everything that we have(cash). although the co. will reimburse the expense(that will happen later) it is a pain .We have a 12 passenger van, so you can imagine what we're paying now. The gov. needs to ignore the eco wackos and start drilling our own oil.

I filled my car up this morning before we went to the antique car show, and it ended up being $46.00. Wow. Thank goddess we don't drive that much, so that should last me about two weeks, just back and forth to work.

Bright Blessings!

It's actually a little more complicated than I originally posted.
We live 1 mile from the schools (they are all about 2 blocks from each other in a triangular shaped area).
My oldest has to be to school at 7:15am. I can't see me getting up all four kids (I'm up at 5am anyway) and walking them all 1 mile to my oldest's school, and back to our house...rushing to get the younger three ready.
Then walking a mile to drop off one (no sooner than 8:15am, no later than 8:25), 2 blocks further to drop off another(no sooner than 8:20am no later than 8:40am), then back 2 blocks to drop off the third (no earlier/later than 8:30am) :bang:
It makes no sense.

But walking to pick them up will be easier ;)

Gas around here (Central MA) is $2.45-$2.55 depending on the gas station. My biggest tips for anyone in the area:

1. Go on $.05 whatever day (Exxon Mobile on my way to work is $.05 off Sunday, the Getty station on the way to the grocery sote is $.05 off Tuesday - most stations around here have 1 day that's $.05 off). Exxon Mobile is also part of Upromise, you get $.01 per gallon back is you buy more than 20 gallons in a Calendar month.

2. Stop & Shop! There's one near me with a gas station that's usually the cheapest one around. They have been printing out Catalina's for $.10 off per gallon at their gas stations. I've found these in empty carts in the parking lot. I've been giving them to DH since his gas tank is bigger than mine (and it will be on commute to work, now that he;s got a job)

Good job!

On gasoline purchases --- I heard on the news this morning that Sunday and Thursday are the days most gas stations hike their prices == something to keep in mind.

At 10 am this morning gas was anywhere between $2.49-$2.59. When got done cleaning my Aunt's house it had jumped up to $2.79. Can you believe that?:toothy: A twenty to thirthy cents in two hours. Luckily there was a gas station that was selling gas still at $2.49. Never thought I'd see the day I would feel lucky to pay that much per gallon. Only going to use car to work and back. Luckily my job is only about 4 1/2 miles from where I live. Also, very lucky, that all the stores and grocery stores I shop are on the way home so I don't have to make a special trip to go out of the way to shop.

Our prices aren't as high as many of yours, but they have jumped from $2.15 last week to $2.32 this week here in our part of Wyoming. DD and I went to Colorado last week and prices there were $2.45 for reg. unleaded. We hear they will keep rising through Labor Day.

Our local news reported last night that prices here will be $3/gallon for reg. unleaded by the end of the year.
