View Full Version : Gasoline prices going down? jlxian 09-14-2005, 04:38 PM Gasoline has slowly gone down in price and is $2.65 today at our local stations. Its high was $2.99 the Friday after the hurricane. Is it going down where the rest of you are? Michelle 09-14-2005, 04:45 PM It went down by 3 cents...it's at $3.18 now. Sara Noel 09-14-2005, 04:56 PM I think we're at $2.77. Much better than it was the past couple of weeks. nodmicks 09-14-2005, 05:24 PM It has went from 3.20 to 2.79  YankeeMom 09-14-2005, 06:17 PM From a high of $3.59/gallon for the cheapest 10 days ago to $2.99/gallon for the cheapest today. Isn't it funny how it never goes down as fast as it goes up  KKCondrey 09-14-2005, 10:10 PM It's dropped pretty good. The highes it was here was 3.29 and then it went back to 2.99 with in a week or so, it's dropped a few cents every few day's since last week and now the lowest price around is 2.67 and some are still 2.78. momof42003 09-14-2005, 10:27 PM Our gas prices have not been all that bad here in Oregon... The worst it was for us is when the regular gas got to 2.79 a gallon last week.. It is now down to 2.75 and they expect it to go down even more in the next couple of weeks. Sorry for all of the rest of you who had to pay over 3.00 a gallon:eek:  ... I don't think that I could in my right mind want to drive if prices were that bad.. Good luck ladies.... SHOPGIRL 09-14-2005, 11:21 PM Yes, prices starting dropping within a week of the huge increase. The average prices I see in Michigan is around $2.75. My dh filled up my car for $2.69 at Sam's club, but if I would have remembered to renew my membership, it only would have cost $2.66. He found a station on the way home from work for $2.59 and earlier in the week found one for $2.52. mom2knk 09-14-2005, 11:29 PM I filled up today and it was down 2 cents per gallon from the last time I filled up..........$2.83/gallon today! bamamomto4 09-15-2005, 01:41 AM Our high was $3.09...it's at $2.89 now. UPSyours2 09-15-2005, 07:06 AM In my town the Mobil On The Run where I buy gas was up to $3.39 last week, I just passed by there the other day & it's gone down to $3.09. Luckily I haven't had to fill up in about 2 weeks while the prices have skyrocketed. I have seen a few gas station go as high as $4.00 in my area. I'm going to have to get my EXPY filled up again in a few more days since I usually don't let it get past the mark after 1/2 tank full. I know when I have the trip mileage hit around 200 then I really need to fill up. I try not to let it get too low. Today DH & Patty's DH are taking the EXPY since they gotta bring my trailer back home. :paw: ~ANDREA~ :paw: Telephus44 09-17-2005, 02:05 PM Our high here (Central MA) was around $3.35 - the cheapest station I saw today was $2.93. Hopefully it will keep going down a little further. It was around $2.60 before Katrina. SHOPGIRL 09-17-2005, 02:06 PM Gas was $2.47 at one corner, but then saw it for around $2.60 at another. Sara Noel 09-17-2005, 02:27 PM $2.69 yesterday. Pretty sad that $2.69 warrants a celebration. lol SHOPGIRL 09-17-2005, 02:29 PM Well, when I saw gas for $2.47, I thought, gee, how cheap! Then, as I was driving, I kept thinking how crazy I was for thinking $2.47 was cheap. I paid $2.66 earlier in the week for gas. kaykwilts 09-18-2005, 11:31 PM It's $2.40 here in northern Lousiana. I'm down to a half a tank. Need to fill up tomorrow before it shoots up again. UPSyours2 09-19-2005, 07:57 AM MOBIL On The Run was down to $3.09 a few days ago...I passed by there on Saturday on our way home from dinner @ TGI FRIDAY'S it was down to $2.93. My EXPY needs fill-up since it's almost @ that mark where I'd only do in town driving so I'll usually pass by my gas station I buy gas @ all the time. I don't dare risk driving to another town where I'm not sure of how good the gas or the prices are? I'll probably go out later or tomorrow to fill-up, maybe the prices will be down a bit more. Depends on what Ma wants to do for her birthday :bdaypty: I wanted to make her a carrot cake w/cream cheese frosting (my friend Jennine's Grandma's recipe) if I can find it. I told her to email it to me then I can print it out & if I loose it then can print another one. She decided to hand-write it & snail mail it to me & I forgot where I put it or someone moved it  Strange as this may sound during the week gas prices go down :) but Thursday night they usually go up for the weekend. http://www.tickercentral.com/view/1rq9/4.png (http://www.tickercentral.com) :paw: ~ANDREA~ jlxian 09-19-2005, 10:46 AM Here it went down to $2.33 over the weekend --- amazing. bamamomto4 09-19-2005, 02:00 PM I paid $2.79 Saturday.Cost $47.50 to fill up my van   Yesterday I seen it at $2.64.I'm hoping it'll continue to drop. frugalbutterfly 09-20-2005, 12:53 PM Ours is right at $2.76, $60 to fill the astro twice a week(that is without any unneeded driving too). Hopefully it will come down more. If not by the time(next summer) I am really "boatable" and able to get back into diving, we will only be able to do once a month. For the last 5 summers we have gone everyweekend(unless weather had other plans:mad: ). This is what we arwuse to and the kids are use to(it is our "stress" relief;) ) but, at least with gas having been so pricey this year, and me not being physically up to doing that, it has kinda worked out good I guess, otherwise we would all be chopping at the bits wanting to go. I know here there have been allot of gouging prices going on even after the gas dropped I think to like $50 or so a barrel. I justhope it comes way down cause next summer we have allot of "make up" diving to do.:D UPSyours2 09-20-2005, 01:04 PM Just heard on News12 this morning because of Tropical Storm Rita gas prices are going back up this afternoon :( I didn't get a chance to fill-up my EXPY yesterday, since my mechanic walked across the street to pick it up to finish the rest of the servicing to my SUV since he got the parts in that were outta stock last week. Just got delivered by UPS :D so it was gone for the rest of the day until dinnertime then returned back to my driveway & I figured since I wasn't going anywhere I'd wait to get gas today...thinking maybe it'll go down a bit more...Umm! Why is it everytime I think this it goes up :( Well anyway it was still @ $2.93 the same as over the weekend :) My friend went to EXXON & because she didn't pay cash :dollar: used her credit card they charged her .10 more per gallon :( Does this happen everywhere? The gas station was a bit crowded this morning & my usual pump #6 I go to this one ALL the time had a car getting gas & a few of the other pumps did too, The EYELAND TRANSPORTATION gas truck was there filling up the tanks. While I was waiting & not much room to even park by the inside building a few feet behind the tanker. I got outta the way & decided I'll wait behind the HUMMER SUV until I noticed gas pouring outta it & dripping down the sides flooding the pavement. :shake: I thought the pumps shut-off automatically  I guess not. This is a scary thought since I've seen on the news a few weeks ago a car on fire @ the gas station because someone crashed into the pumps :( The owner of the HUMMER was inside. Well another time around the lot for me & I got a space on the side then saw the car @ my usual pump was leaving & "it's a good thing" (as Martha would say) :lol3: I went back around now I'm @ the right angle to turn to that pump :) I filled up my EXPY @ MOBIL on the RUN @ $2.93 cost me $61.33 for 20.869 gallons & the gas station is 1.0 miles from my house I checked the trip mileage when getting back to my driveway :) I re-set it after every fill-up....not that far from my house. They had a special on the windows advertised Buy One Poland Spring Sport-Cap 24 oz Water Bottle Get One FREE! Regular price is $1.29 so I got 4 of them & noticed I didn't get any FREE. I guess it's the company who puts out the offers & each individual gas station doesn't have to give you a FREE bottle. I know they are very picky w/coupons I wanted to use a MARLBORO coupon for DH cigarette's & the guy @ the cashier said they don't take coupons there but still gave me the $5.00 off just keyed it in the register as another promo for KOOL cigs. they had going on @ the same time. Another time was a blinkie coupon machine on the glass fridge doors where the juices, soda's GATORADE's, water are in & it was a B1G1F too for Tropicana juices same problem can't use coupons, now I have a problem w/this since it's not one of my coupons & it's being offered @ this location 7 states on the coupon is only good for MOBIL & EXXON gast stations. So I just got another 2 FREE bottles of juice they didn't ring up :brainy: I gotta watch everything! The MGR. there knows me & so does a few of the gas pump guys they are all foreign like Turkish, Armenian type but very nice. (Years ago in HS I went out w/an Armenian guy) Some just don't understand ENGLISH! The MGR. tells the guys to carry-out my purchases of beer for DH, ARIZONA ice tea, GATORADE's, etc. (I buy alot there since it's convenient & not much of a long line like the grocery store (some prices are the same as elsewhere unless on sale so I'm not spending that much more) when I may be in a hurry w/limited time. :paw: ~ANDREA~ :paw: jlxian 09-20-2005, 01:04 PM Down to $2.31 this morning --- but I expect prices to start climbing again since the price of oil went up $4 a barrel yesterday and Hurricane Rita is headed into the Gulf. Better fill up today! forestdale 09-20-2005, 03:42 PM They reported on our news last night that we need to get used to the higher prices and to plan our lives around them as they won't be dropping for a long time. :( |
