Hi everyone!
I am new here and also pretty much a newbie to couponing. I discovered yesterday that we spend WAY too much money on groceries and I decided to do something about it. I am starting to collect coupons and compare shop.
I was wondering how you all keep your coupons organized. I could see things getting out of hand very quickly as the number of coupons increase.
Do you keep a written tally of what you have in a notebook? Do you take the majority of your coupons with you to the store or do you plan in advance and take just what you need? How to you store them?
Thanks for any feedback! :)

ALways take your coupons with you everywhere you go :)
I was going to write down all my coupons when I first started, but quickly realized how much time that would take, so I have catoregories in my file and just search in the store if I see something that wasn't in my list

Vickie--I was asking the same question just a few weeks ago. I finally realized that I needed to organize my coupons AND take them all with me whenever I shop. You never know what deals may pop up.
After searching high and low, I finally decided on a check/coupon expandable file from Staples. It is plastic and has thirteen dividers you label.
Here are my tabs:
Breads/Cereals/Mixes
Boxed/Canned
Condiments
Dairy/Meat
Drinks
Frozen Food
Snacks
Beauty
Health
Household
General
I put all other funky ones and rain checks in the back. While shopping, any coupons I use I place in the very front so they are easy to get to when checking out.
I do not take pet or baby coupons with me because I don't have any pets or kids (yet)
I also have an ongoing list on the computer of the coupons I have to trade. This way when people want to trade, I can quickly let them know what I have available. This is time consuming--but it helps with trades.
Hope this helped! :)

Thanks for all the feedback ladies :)
I went insearch of products which I could make a binder out of yesterday ( :D well as much searching as you can do while worrying about DH being home with all three kids at the same time LOL! ) and didn't have much luck. I ended up with one of the smallish coupon holders like Betsy described above. I figured that I could start with that but move up as my coupon "collection" increases. Right now I have nothing collected and am waiting for Sunday to arrive so I can get some out of the paper.
Thanks again!
