I have a pile of lone socks without their mates. Grrrr. Why do I save these? I don't know why I think I might actually do something with them or find their matches. Does anyone else do this? I must be nuts to think I may actually someday make sock puppets. :toothy:

I have lone socks from the Reagen administration, lol. You never know I might find their mates, someday!:)

I do, since I usually find their mates within a couple weeks (or sometimes even months because they've managed to get behind the washing machine). I buy all matching socks, all the same colors, so say I have one that is mateless, and another with a hole in the toe. I throw out the one with the hole and the mateless one has once again found a partner. It's alot cheaper that way.

I keep a drawer of them, then once a month I go through and try to mate. DH wears plain black socks with black high top shoes almost every day to work, so if his are really similiar rather than a perfect match, it isn't a crisis.

All socks are currently mated at this time:D but if I do come across a lone one I will keep it cause I know as soon as I throw it out the other one will turn up. They always do eventually

Yup--a lot of our socks are the same (don't buy patterns, buy same colors, etc), so it won't go to waste. Plus they always do turn up somewhere....

Yes, I have a whole laundry basket full of em. Now that the kids are out of the house I think I'll toss the lot. (The dog has gotten a few new toys out of it already!)

Yep, sure do have a stash of those lone socks! I usually save, and save hoping their mates show up and then if they don't - I will chunk them about twice a year....

I just can't throw them out! I know that if I do, as soon as the trash is picked up from the curb, the missing sock will show up!

I buy the same socks over and over. But I do have some old ones that don't match. I wear them to garden and do yard work since they always seem to get stained. I figure it doesn't matter if my socks match if I am in my own yard minding my own.

They also make great dust rags, a working hand puppet you might say. ;) Debbie
