Welcome to the New Year, New Home Challenge for 2006!!!
I just wanted to quickly outline the different aspects of the challenge, so we all know what we are signing on for.
Every few weeks, I will focus on a different area of the home for us to declutter and organize. Everyone can work at their own pace, as long as they are ready to move on to the next area when we are done. There will be major challenge directions for the entire rooms, and mini-challenges along the way.
If you don’t have a certain room in your home that we are focusing on, that doesn’t mean your work is done. You can still participate in the mini-challenges, and make sure you are maintaining any of the spaces we’ve already conquered.
I’m also going to start a picture thread. However, I don’t want pictures of before and after. The fact is, clutter is easy to hide if you are clever. A picture of an office that has clear desktops and pretty bookshelves means nothing if stuff is jammed inside that desk and in a closet where no one can see it.
Instead, I’m going to ask people who are able to post pictures of the bags and boxes of junk that we are tossing/donating/selling. This will let us get a visual of how much stuff we were allowing to clutter up our lives and our homes, and will hopefully inspire us to let go of more.
Any tips, tricks, or ideas that members have along the way are welcome! Many ideas are my own, but many have been gleaned from hours and hours of reading and researching about decluttering and organization. We can all learn from each other!
I look forward to taking this journey with you!
