Thats how long we have to wait to get our first baby! I am so excited yet still very unprepared. She will be techincally a foster child until March (if everything goes as planned) then we will be on to the adoption process.

After five years of marriage, I feel like I'm finally ready to be a mommy.

I would love to hear tips about adjustment (for us and the baby) from other adoptive parents here at FV.

As an adoptive mom, all I can say is congratulations. It's wonderful being a foster mom (was for 6 years) and adopted 3 kids.

It will all come naturally. There will be some adjustments because there will be a little one in your home. You'll have to get use to being up more at night, worrying more and your time won't be your own. You'll probably have social workers involved which can get pretty hairy at times. However the rewards far outweigh any of the adjustments.

Just take time to enjoy her. Also make time for yourself throughout all of this. It's important for new mommies to do that and to have special time with your dh/so.

Again congratulations. :smball: :smball:

How exciting!!!

I don't have tips re: the adoptive aspect, but boy, are things going to change for you! Get used to that little one being in charge for the first couple years! And that quote about having your heart walking around ourside your body- that's true- be prepared for that.

:congrats:

Tiffany, congratulations!!!! Motherhood is the hardest job I have ever done, however, it is the best job in the world! There are days when you'll think, "Ugh, I'm a rotten mom." It's normal to be a little afraid and to not know what to do. Everybody has days like that BUT there also will be days when you'll know how important you are to your little one and will be so thankful that you've been given such an awesome gift. Enjoy each day and pray a lot!

Not too many days left. How are you feeling?

My only advice would be to keep very accurate records on everything for your social workers/ judges etc. I keep a running list of Dr. appts., medications, calls/visits with social workers etc. it has helped to keep me organized and gives me something to refer back on when asked questions. Best wishes.--Kellie

That is so exciting. I remember the very first time I seen our 3 as if it was yesterday. There is nothing quite like it.

The only word I can come up with it "LOVE" and instantly. I remember (especially dd and ds#1) when they opened their eyes and looked at me, my heart melted and hasn't been the same since.
