I think I've posted that last year we bought a '98 Lincoln Towncar with 10,244 miles on it. It really was the car that a little old lady drove to church on Sunday. Anyway I just love that car. We paid very little for it and it is in impeccable shape except for a couple of cigarette burns that were there when we got it.

Well last week when the dk's were here they drove it to town one night when we went to see Gripey's family. The kids were gonna stay and go to a movie later and we didn't want to wait that long. Sssoooo on the next morning ds says "your check engine light came on last nite and stayed on". :yikes: So I get in it and it's running terribly. It's missing and the check engine light is on. I'm having a heart attack b/c I maintain it perfectly. Sssoooo we take it into the mechanic and says it's gonna be a few days before I can get to it. Which it was 5. Ssooooo he calls yesterday and says it's ready. It was a fuel cell and plugged fuel filter. We had him service the transmission while he had it and paid him $327. which is a lot but not nearly as much as I had envisioned (THANK goodness!) and now it purrs like a kitten again. Oh, and it's getting 28.5 miles to gallon....something it has never done since we've had it. I reckon that fuel filter has been plugged for a while. :( Anyway I'm just so happy to have it fixed and running so good again.
It's nice to get a surprise that's a good one (like it not being a cracked head or something like that, whew!) like that once in a while.
