A friend of ours owned a car for almost 20 years. When she bought a new one, she showed us her book where she had kept track of every penny spent on her car. She had her oil changes, how much gas she used, what repairs were done, even when she put in more windshield washer. It was amazing.

Not sure I would want that much detail but think it would be helpful to at least track my gas consumption so I knew how much a trip is costing me. Specially around here in the winter when I need 4-wheel drive - the Jeep just seems to be forever on empty!
