ROFL!!!!!!!!!! I called the county extension office because we are having a huge problem with armadillos in our backyard. The person I spoke with basically told me on the phone that there's not much we can do to get rid of them and that there is a large problem in this area. She did send me a brochure from the Univ. of FL which basically said the same thing. It did suggest trying mothballs (which was not guaranteed and is not safe for us to use since we have 2 dogs that will eat anything) and installing chicken wire under the ground all around our fence - we have about 450 feet of fence so that's not something we're looking forward to doing (should we decide to try that).

What do armadillos do? Eat something or just bug you?

And I got some soil info and composting info from them.

Armadillos just go around digging holes everywhere (and I do mean everywhere) that are about 5 to 7 inches deep each. They do that searching for food (worms, grubs, etc.). We also had to stop letting one of our dogs out in the yard on her own because she would go to all the holes and roll in them. When she would come back in the house she would absolutely REEK. :yucky: Now she can only go outside when we can be out there with her - for some reason she doesn't roll in the holes if we're with her.
