Sorry, ladies, but you knew it was coming.

TIME TO CLEAN THE FRIDGE...DUN, DUN, DUHHHHH!

Yes, my friends, it is time to open the cavern of the unknown and finally conquer those who have begun to grow there. Once again, this is a job that could take awhile, so please make sure you have ample time available to complete this part of the challenge.

Everything comes out. Then, scrub the inside of that fridge until it shines. (Or, have dh do it for you while you are sorting through the food that you just took out before it goes bad!)

Touch everything. Check the dates, open up the containers. Anything that looks bad or looks like it's about to go bad, or makes you pass out from the smell, TOSS IT! Leftovers that aren't bad, but you forgot about, plan dinner around them tonight so they get eaten and out of the way. Seriously...everything must go if it could possibly make you ill, (or if you get ill just thinking about it!)

Then, restock those shelves with only the items that are good.

Once you close the fridge, YOU AREN'T DONE! Clean off the front of your fridge, too! Vertical surfaces, like fridge fronts can certainly become cluttered. Do you have old schedules, calendars, pictures, paintings, drawings, phone numbers, business cards, magnets, etc. , mucking up the front of your fridge? Well, make some tough decisions and get rid of some. How many magnets do you need, anyway? If you are like me and have a bunch of alphabet magnets or farm animal magnets for the kids, that's fine, but contain them to one area of the fridge, and just like with their toys, tell the kids that when they are done using them, they need to put them back in that area of the fridge. Better yet, take them off the fridge and put them in a small box or baggie, and store it in a cabinet near the fridge, and let the kids take them out when they want to use them and put them away when they are done.

Let us know how it goes!

Done! I did a huge cleaning of this right before Christmas, and I've kept up with cleaning it out once a week, so this one was easy for me.

Now mind you, I still haven't gotten to part 1...that one is going to take me a lot longer than the 2nd and 3rd parts, and I need some motivation!

I do this everyday on garbage day as far as getting old food out and expired containers, BUT wash it inside about twice a year. Looks like I will be washing the inside of the refrigerator. UGH! Just as bad as mopping the floor!!!

I finished this one this morning. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think I did it just before Christmas. This afternoon it will be the stove and microwave, and maybe the pantry.
