I honestly haven't tried this yet, but plan to. I'd like to say bye to dryer sheets.

I have always used vinegar. Except a few weeks ago I broke down and bought a bottle of fabric softner. lol But, I love vinegar. It does the job, and doesn't leave the vinegar smell on your clothes.

I haven't, but I only use fabric softener 'cause it makes my clothes smell good. I don't care if they're soft or not. :laugh:

Vinegar is also good to remove the urine smell from clothes and bedsheets after nighttime "accidents"

How do you use this? When do you add it to the wash, how much, etc?

I just started using vinegar this past month, so far I only use it in clothes that I hang on the clothesline, I haven't tried it on clothes that I put in the dryer yet. I've noticed that the clothes seem fresher and softer.

Michelle, I put about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of white vinegar in my rinse water.

i have used ammonia but never vinegar. I guess it should do the same thing. I was worried that my clothes would smell bad but they don't. I have even dried them in the dryer after. Alot cheaper than softner sheets. :angel:

Never have, but heard it works just as good as Downey (minus the April Fresh smell)

Put the vinegar in your old Downy ball!:eek: Works great if you don't have a fabric dispenser area on your washer.

I have been using vinegar for at least 10 years. I recently bought some liquid softner. I felt like trying to do like my mom. I think I wanted to build a connection or something. I know it sounds weird, but my mom and I don`t have much in common. lol

Vinegar works great. I also use between 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup. I just put in the area in my washer where I would normally use softner. Of course you don`t get the smell of softner.

I use white vinegar for so much, including fabric softener. Not only does it work as a softener, but it's also a rinse agent. It will rinse away any soap residue left in your clothing, which extends the life and color.
When you clean your carpets, if you go over it a second time with just water and vinegar it's a great way to get the any soap reside out of the carpet - soap residue will attract dirt. Your carpets will be cleaner and brighter.

I use 1/4 cup vinegar in the rinse. Dh never even knew until recently. Now he's doing it too! :D

I use vinegar in the Downey ball too... In addition I use baking soda in the rinse after bleaching to remove the clorine and bring the PH back in to balance ......
