I am a twice divorced single Asian man, age 48, slightly disabled. I have to rely on a cane to walk, but other than that, I am quite normal and healthy. I am currently receiving disability benefit from Social Security (SSDI) and from my private disability insurance company. Both incomes afford me a comfortable living, but not exactly luxurious. Anyway, I would like to know what is the chance of me adopting a child? When I was younger, I used to be very involved with the hearing impaired community, therefore I am still very fluent in the American Sign Language. I would not mind adopting a deaf or a hearing impaired child.

Hello,
I dont see why they wouldn't allow you to adopt, they cannot discrimate because you have a disability, as long as you can provide a warm loving environment for a child and give the child the care he/she needs there shouldn't be a problem.

Check around your local area and see what you can find out, I sure wish you the best of luck in your searches.

I honestly have no clue whasoever, but I just wanted to wish you luck.
You might be the best thing that ever happened to a child, particularly a special needs child, since you know ASL already. :)
