I posted this in the frugality forum b/c I was just thinking that I think it actually helps us be more frugal b/c Gripey does cook. As I type he's in the kitchen prepping to cook hamb. steaks on the grill. Sometimes when I'm just not in the mood to cook he will and that helps me not get so tired of it. And it helps when I'd give into the impulse to just eat out b/c I'm not in the mood.

Raise your hand if your other half cooks. :wave2:

Well my hubby doesn't cook atleast he hasnt for a while now, I usually cook, I think it's better that way, since he works and I dont.

He does cook once in a blue moon when I am really sick and can't get out of bed or something, that's a blessing.

I live alone, but sometimes I think that helps my frugal efforts, because I'm more inclined to just rummage around the fridge or pantry than eat out. I'm not a big fan of fast food, so no temptation to stop on the way home from work. Many nights, dinner consists of cereal or popcorn! :D

Robert is a great cook, actually. However, if we waited for him to come home from work and cook dinner, we wouldn't be eating until 7:30 pm. By that time, the kids are in bed! So, I cook, and every now and then, he cooks a meal on the weekend.

DH and I have been together 4 years, married for 2. He has cooked for me exactly 2 times. He pretends he doesn't know how to cook but he's not fooling me, I know that he does! He just doesn't care to do it. I don't mind being the cook of the house. He's grateful, even if dinner is just mac & cheese out of the box with some sliced hotdogs thrown in. Some nights its 'fend for yourself night' and some nights its fast food night (on the nights when I don't feel like cooking). We both work full time and there's stuff that we do 2-3 evenings a week so on those nights its either a really quick dinner before 6pm or we wait until after we get home to eat.

Mine does. I taught him when we first started dating, and now he is quite a good cook. ;)

Yes, DH can cook better than me! He can throw together stuff out of the pantry when I don't think there's anything to cook and make a great meal out of it, all without using recipes. It's the cleaning up after he cooks that's the hardest!

Yes & it's usually very good. I do start quaking in my boots when he starts grabbing spices at random OR utters the words swiss chard and/or vegetable medley.:nerv2:

My DH will cook when I am working. He is a pretty good cook and he loves to grill. He likes to cook all meat on the George Foreman grill. I have to admit that I prefer it cooked like that most of the time also. :)

My SO only knows how to cook with a blow torch... which was handy when we had that monster power outage back in August '03. But he is otherwise banned from the kitchen.

My DH cooks most of the time. I am in school and work part-time, he works part-time. He does not like to wash dishes so I used to do that. Now we have a dishwasher.

Dh is a fabulous cook and does the majority of the cooking at our house. I like baking, which he hates, so it's a great tradeoff we have going.

My DH specializes in grill cooking only. Works out nicely because it's difficult to prep food indoors and out. Only problem is there's no outdoor cooking in the winter.

Yes and he is a good cook. He recently took over cooking just after he healed from his broken knee. But now that he's working again and more when he gets home I do more of the cooking and he apologizes. He does cook on the weekends or when he gets home early and we always go grocery shopping together to figure out dinners for the next two weeks.

ha! my spouse has exactly 3 recipes. She calls them her "date" recipes because she used to cook them for her dates. I told her it's a good thing we got married because she's only good for 3 dates!

My DH is a good cook. He likes doing it. So when he comes home from work, if I haven't started something, he will. We're a team.
He also is in charge of the bread machine ;)

I'm glad to hear that so many of our mates do chip in. Gripey has even mastered cooking things like biscuits on his grill since we've been without an oven for soooo long. (have one on order now though ;) )

the last time my husband cooked, we had to go buy a new stove. and im not joking either. he left it on all day while he went to work and evidentally burned the heating element up in it. glad it was just the stove that had to be replaced and not our house. but he is a pretty good griller and smoker. i cant grill to save my neck, the dogs eat pretty good tho when i do try.

Yes. Won my heart with his cooking. A killer with filled beef roll and Spanish rice.

He does a lot of grilling during the summer. In the winter I do the cooking.

He also cooks breakfast every Sunday - waffles or pancakes. Not a varied menu. I often help by making sauces and cutting up fruit to add to the meal.

Marty actually does most of the cooking here. Since he got sick and can't work- he enjoys trying new recipes, etc.

There are still some meals that he feels intimidated by, so he leaves those for me--- things like fried rice (easy dish, but he's terrified of it), anthing with gravy, fried chicken, anthing requiring a pastry crust.

Yes, yes he does. In fact, he's a better cook than I am.

Doug cooks like a dream.
He cooks probably 3 nights a week or on weekends.
He does parties and things in the summer for a little extra cash.
He hopes to have his own BBQ Bussiness soon

My DH cooks quite a bit. I am highly allergic to many things. Eggs and dairy products I can't even touch without a major reaction. So he cooks anything that he and the boys eat that has those things it in. I do the crockpot cooking and anything fried he pretty much does the rest.

He also does the dishes every night. I do calculus and chemistry with my son while he does the dishes. He definately has the better job.

DH LOVES to cook....and that's a good thing since I'm terrible at it.
