For a while, I've only bought Gain laundry detergent, but when I run out of my current supply I'm going to try using Arm & Hammer - cheaper and supposedly better for the environment. I am very loyal to Bounty paper towels. I just can't use the cheaper ones, they fall apart when I use them. I do however buy them in bulk at BJ's and use a coupon, so it's cheaper than just buying them in the store. Cheese singles have to be Kraft. And I love Palmer's cocoa butter lotion. Other cocoa butter lotions just aren't the same. Other than that, I think I'm pretty open to store or cheaper brands.

Oh, I forgot pet food. I buy Pedigree dog food in bulk since I have so many, but I refuse to use store brands or Ol' Roy.

It's gotta be Heinz canned tomato soup, So Soya soy milk and Purex laundry soap (it just smells sooooooo good!). That's about it, I think.

LOL You reminded me. I'm a Lipton snob here. Luzianne is tolerable too. Nestea I actually can't stand.

Kraft sandwich spread. French's worcestershire sauce. Chicken of the Sea tuna. I'm not too picky about anything else.

I'm with Naderbug - has to be Heinz tomato soup, buy it by the case when it's on sale 3/1.00. Think that's it, am usually pretty open to change.

Any variety of COLGATE and DIET COKE products are ok with me. CRYSTAL LIGHT too.

The rest, Im happy with trying different brands and even store brands to see what works best for me and saves me $.

Just b/c its cheaper doesnt mean its of the same calibre! (boy have I sure learned that lesson!)

Aqua fresh extreme clean toothpaste, my teeth just don't feel as clean with the others. Speed stick deodrant (both my husband and me). When it comes to food...I really can't think of anything.

I am partial to coca cola. Although I have been known to buy Pepsi when it is cheaper than Coca Cola, I really hate it when I do that. As far as everything else, I am not loyal at all. I buy the cheapest laundry detergent there is. I buy the cheapest fabric softener there is. Oh wait, I only buy Kraft Macaroni and cheese. The cheaper brands taste horrible to me. But thats it!

This is true, but just because it's more expensive doesn't mean it's better either. I used to use Pears by Suave shampoo -- $1.99 for a 500 mL bottle. Well, over the years, I've tried several others. Most recently, I've tried Pantene Pro-V and Redken, both extremely expensive ($4.99 and $12.99 for each's respective shampoo and conditioner) and every time I wash my hair with any of this stuff, it feels so dry and coarse and hard, like steel wool. I hate it! As soon as it's all used up -- or maybe before if someone will take this crap off my hands -- I'm going to get myself some Pears and make my hair (and my wallet) happy. :)

Heinz Ketchup
Campbells soups
Kool-Aid (the others have no taste to me )
Suave Shampoo and conditioner
Other than that I'm open to new things

It really depends:) We were loyal to a certain laundry soap, but we've branched out recently and it's not too bad. I also have to have Kraft cheese slices. The others are just weird texture and taste to me. Heinz Ketchup, mostly green giant or del monte canned veg as dh is too picky for other brands,

Other than that, I guess if I found a better price, I'd probably go with it. We decided we actually like the store brand mac-n-cheese better than Kraft so we're not snobs there anymore, lol.

This is true, but just because it's more expensive doesn't mean it's better either. I used to use Pears by Suave shampoo -- $1.99 for a 500 mL bottle.

OMG where do you live that you can still buy Pears Shampoo? I loved that brand but dont see it sold here anymore...do they still sell it in the 'lego like' stackable packaging?? If its too personal to answer here in the forum, you can PM me. Thanks!

I just bought Pert Plus again to give it a whirl b/c it was on sale for $2.89/500 ml bottle ( or close to that ) So far so good! They've revamped it!

Only Heinz Ketchup and Miracle Whip spread. These are the two I'm most loyal to.

I used to only drink Diet Coke, but I'm giving up pop which is definately not fun. Withdrawl headaches anyone.

Speaking of headaches, I stay pretty close to Advil for a pain reliever as well. I'm not sure it does any better a job but I like the taste of the coating.

Lays Potato Chips for potato chips.

Purina Indoor Cat Chow and Friskees Salmon wet cat food. Mainly because my spoiled cats won't eat anything else. And one of them has a really sensative stomach.

Other than that I'll try pretty much anything once. Oh and I really prefer the salsa Aldi's carries and will make a special trip to pick some up.

Sprite, Pepsi -- no store brand pop for us

The rare times I break down and drink pop it has to be Pepsi, nothing else. Haven't had one in months though.

And I had to think long and hard, the only brand I'm really loyal to is Tampax, have tried others but no thanks, that's the ONE area I don't skimp.

I would have to say Heinz Ketchup, Miracle Whip, and Kraft Mac and Cheese. I am also a stickler on my son's shoes. If I buy him less expensive ones I buy them twice as often. We try almost anything other than that. I do use the less expensive ketchup to cook with.

From what I understand, Suave bought out Pears shampoo, so it's the same stuff, just under the name Suave. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. The stuff I used to buy still comes in the same green plastic bottle with the same purple label that reads "Normal Hair" on it. At least it was a couple months ago when I bought it last. :)

Only name-brand soft drinks, at least for the dark drinks. The store brand lemon-lime stuff or ginger ale always seems to taste okay.

Hot dogs must be Hebrew National. There's just no comparison.

Cat food is Eukanuba for my boys, but that mostly has to do with tummy issues that one has. Still, I feed a stray cat, and he eats Iams. I just can't feed an animal the pet's equivalent of McDonald's every day. That's just cruel. Their food has to be high-quality, meat-first product.

Neutrogena shampoo and conditioner for me.

Amy's organic mac and cheese if I buy the boxed stuff.

Dove or Finesse hairspray.

Q-tips. I tried a store-brand version once, and DH and I both agreed they were awful.

I know there are probably a few others, but I'm drawing a blank right now.

Sari

I agree about the Hebrew Nationals. DH will eat any old cheap nasty brand. I ALWAYS find gristle in it, and it's disgusting how many fillers and artificial stuff can be in hotdogs. Hebrew Nationals is a God-send. (LOL)

Naderbug, can you tell I'm passionate about cat food? LOL. That was probably too strongly worded to say it's cruel to feed a pet inferior food, so I hope I didn't offend anyone. It's far better for an animal to eat a cheaper food and have a good home than to be euthanized or have to fend for itself in the wild. But, since my cats are my children, I have no problem with spending the extra money for a high-quality cat food. Between food for them, food for the stray, and pine cat litter, I probably spend around $50 a month on kitty stuff. Probably sounds like a lot, but I don't have real children to spend money on. :cat:

I will not buy store brand canned soups. :stir: Also, although Albacore Solid White Tuna is not a brand it is the only kind I will buy. I know it is expensive, :dollar: :dollar: but it turns out to be more expensive when I try to save money by buying light tuna, then not eating it.

Miracle Whip
Velvetta shells & Cheese (hubby will not eat the powdered mix stuff).

There are sure to be a few more than this but I will have to think of them later.

Oh, it certainly didn't offend me, it's just a train of thought I'd never thought of before. My cat is my baby, too, I don't have any kids either. It's a very good way of thinking, in my opinion. I think I'm going to start looking for some coupons on pet food.

Tell me, though -- is it true that if you change a pet's food on them too often, they can get sick? Tempest has been eating the same cat food for a long time now.

Just do it gradually, and she shouldn't have a problem. Start with mixing just a little bit of new food in with mostly old food, and gradually increase the amount of new day by day.

I forgot to mention Tampax. For some reason, I cant get into any other type of tampon. I think I am going to get the block. Where you dont get your period for three years. Imagine all the money I could save on tampons if I didnt have a period? Sounds like a good idea to me! :)
