The only thing that was really sad about this article is that the Mom didn't understand the true gift that books are and tried to get her kids NOT to read. But, she sounds like a true Tightwad!

I can't begin to imagine telling a child NOT to read. A good book is never a waste of money! That mom was not only frugal with money (a good thing) but also frugal with living.

lol Mom was happy that I read... she just wasn't happy that I read at the table during dinner, in bed in the dark by the light from the hallway that came in through the crack of my door, in the car on a three hour drive and we had to stop every half hour because I was making myself car sick... :laugh:
