Umm... it was grey out, but I just thought it would clear up as the forecast didn't mention showers but did mention 94 degree heat. I had 2 loads of laundry hung when it started pouring!!!

What should I have done?

I got them off the line and have them spinning out in the washer to get rid of the "extra" rain water. What should I have done? Left them out knowing that it would be a passing downpour or bring them in? Should I put them back out or give up and go for the dryer. The load was mostly sheets.

If I thought it was just a passing shower I would leave them out unless there was an item that i needed to wear. Sometimes I will be put clothes on my line the night before and let them hang outside and get them the next day.

I would have left them & if you have the time, I'd go out & re-hang them. Dryer cost so much to run & with the temps being so nasty the thought of adding more heat is just too much. Sorry for the extra work.

I would have left them out, except for any that you absolutely needed. I have been known to leave my laundry out through a pouring rain and then leave it until it does dry. In fact, my elderly neighbor teases that when we need rain, I just need to get my lines full of laundry and it WILL rain!!!

I have a line inside, in the basement. It takes longer to dry, but it's worth the wait so I don't have to use the dryer.

This isn't exactly something that will help you now, but I always check the weather radar online before hanging out clothes. That way I know if there's precipitation on the way.

Yeah, I usually leave stuff out unless it is almost done drying, then I bring it in. But if it is already soaked and looks to be a quick downpour then I say save yourself the work and leave it ( and get that rainfresh scent that you usually pay extra for, teehee)

When I do get the chance to use the clothesline, I check weather first and then hang it. If its going to rain later in the day or seems grey, I just hang them on my clothes racks inside the back sunporch - its extra toasty in there!! Like a solarium. I only use the clotheslines on a day where I'll be home. Im afraid to hang clothes then go to work b/c mine seem to blow away all the time :(

I usually wash clothes at night and hang on the racks in porch overnight and by end of work day they've heated through all day so I can pick them off the rack and put them away!

But big things like comforters and sheets - I will use dryer, gotta have the softness and BOUNCE smell going on for bedtime! LOL

Now if only they could find a way to make a Bounce smelling detergent! Us line dryers would be in heaven! *drools*
