The first thing to do is build the $1000 EF. The second baby step is to pay off all debt. I assume the baby EF of $1000 is to get you through this period of getting out of debt without having to resort to using cc's again should something arise like car repairs or health costs during that time.

ETA: I'm still reading his MTMM book, I am not a subscriber to the MTMM part of the website.

I was a subscriber for a while. Loved the commercial free downloads. The forum was okay, sometimes rude, sometimes inspiring. Figured I would save the $9 a month and just listen for free the next day at his daveramsey.com site.

I tried the trial and canceled. I found a snowball calculator here on FV and I listen for free from the archives on his site, the commercials don't bother me and you can skip through them. I applied that $9 to our food budget instead.

The first step in babystep #1 is to get all your bills current and then to start building your EF.

Good luck!! :)

I'm also on the Dave Ramsey plan, but I do not subscribe to his site. I use the extra for debt reduction.
