I just started FPU last wk. & I can already tell that this was a really good move for me.

Background: I'm single. 11 yr. old niece & her dad live with me. My grandsons (2 of them) come over often so staying on top of things can be trying at times.

I demand 2 days for myself each wk., Tues. (FPU) & Wed. (Lost). Several of us missed the first class because of computer errors on DR website, but I'm helping out the facilitator with the class each wk.

I've been listening to DR for a very long time but just this year started putting his principles to practice.

This class has me so pumped up, I know that I'll have good results & what a way to end the year. I always had a hard time understanding some of the budget forms & the class leader explained everything. So I've started filling out my forms & am putting myself on a budget. I'm starting out loosely since before now, I've had no plan.

If any of you have had the class & want to offer any advice, feel free.

My envelopes are funded, I have 7. Life is good!

No, I'm taking the class at my mom's old church so some of the women watched me grow up. But I'm putting it out there because I'm ready to move forward. Wounds have been slow healing but it's time to be healed & do right.

Debora,
Let us know how it goes. A friend bought me the CDs, but I haven't got started on them yet. I'm really excited about the Dave Ramsey Plan. It has really helped me.

Will do. Maybe I'll do a weekly acct. if anyone is interested. Just from the first class, I've noticed a different mindset. I do think about where my money is going & when I say, "Let's stop at the store to get soft drinks, I know that doing it every day is a no-no." Those glory days are over of me just running wild with money. And I actually feel really good about it. I've been on Cloud 9 since my first class & I feel it's because I am finally getting myself under control. I know that the end of this year will be better for me because I'll be starting the new year off in better position than I ever have. I'll never have another resolution that says I'll get my finances together. I have started feeling empowered & I like that. If I don't get off my duff & do SOMETHING, then it will never get done.

I really love your enthusiasm. I'd love for you to do a weekly accounting. I've experienced a little set back in my plan due to a death in the family and needing to help with expenses, but as Dave says, "Life Happens", so I have to move forward. I'm going to start those CDs cause I could use some pumping up, too.

It will be great to start out the new year with a solid plan and see how much we can accomplish.

Autumn, I think that is a good idea. Why don't you start on the CDs & we'll talk about it as I'm going thru my classes. I've had a minor setback myself & had to rob 1/2 the EF. I sure do welcome the company tho.

I have class tonight & I've been working really hard on my budget. I love the budgets in DR's book & am finally glad I understand it. I was getting way to complicated with the budget thing & then the floppy on my computer crashed & I lost everything. Of course, I had no backup. Anyway, this is simpler & no running to the computer every time I want to look at my budget, I just open my book.

Doing a budget has been difficult for me. I'm single so I pretty much do what I want & that's not always a good thing.

I also welcome comments.

:dancing: This is me on a plan!

I am getting ready to start this around January, as that is when our church will be starting it. I have implemented some things already, envelope system, EF,. so hopefully I will understand most of it. I am excited to hear how you do, so please keep us up to date.
Thanks,
Sheri

Sheri,

Maybe you all can hold me accountable when I start to feel weak. I've gotten a lot of the spending under control so that's really good for me. If you have any questions, let me know. Where are you located in IN? I live in Louisville, just wondering how close we are.

I do need to update my signature & add other things to it. I guess I'll get around to it.

I live in East central IN close to Muncie , and we are about 10 mi. from the OH state line. I would guess we are probably about 4-5 hrs apart.

Sheri: I don't know how close you are to Evansville but DR's Live Event is a really good way to kick start your program if you've never been. I was thinking about going but since I'm trying to do a budget now, I know that it's just not in the plan & that's fine. I'll go when I can.

Bee: Thanks for asking. We had another good night & I brought my little stack of CCs that I had been saving to cut up in class. My niece took pics of us cutting them up, then a pic of the CCs in a pile of shavings. :cheergrl: I showed everybody my little bitty CC that Bank of America sent me. Showed them one of the CCs had URGENT written on it because I hadn't activated any of the cards. I had 3 CITI cards because they keep sending them. Well, they need not send me anymore. I am completely done!

I enjoy the members in our class. Everybody is opening up & some of these are people I grew up with in church, my mother's friends. But I open up, too. I figured I'm not holding anything back.

My budgets are almost finished & I really like the Allocated Spending Plan. I should do really well with that one. What do you all use for keeping track of your money & so on. What helpful tips do you have?
