Well, we had our 4th FPU class last night, I hosted it. Did not feel like I was as good as our facilitator. Had to bring some people back to the subject. So I think I'll let her do the class from now on.

I committed to having my zero based budget by the first of Oct. We are not meeting next wk. because the church is having revival. That'll give me loads of time to get back on track.

We had flood waters last weekend & things around here were quite the mess. So I didn't do too much on my FP stuff. So I'm needing to get back on track this week.

I am really enjoying FPU. I'm going to look for another class starting around the first of the year. I figure that I need to keep doing this until this money thing becomes routine. I do know that going to class every week keeps me looking at this stuff and working it.

I've been using my envelope system & love that, too. I just have to remember to fund it every week when I get paid. I'm finding the envelope system to be really freeing as far as dealing with my cash. I always had enough for gas, had enough for food & when I decided to blow some cash, it was right there in my envelope. I knew that I would not be dipping in the bill money in my acct. I also knew that I wouldn't be messing up my acct. or forgetting to write down a debit transaction.

I encourage everyone to at least try one or two envelopes. It'll help in budgeting your money.

:vibes:

Hi Debora,

What is a FPU class. Is it for being frugal? I would love to start one here.

Hi Tori,

FPU is Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University, a 13 week course about your money. It includes everything you need to know about getting ahead in life. Have you read any of his books yet? FPU is good for accountability & actually doing the program. My course was $95. It's a lifetime membership & I am going to use it. Like I said above, I'm planning to attend another FPU right after this one. Check out my other post about attending FPU. HTH. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

You're welcome Tori.

Pam, good for you. One of the girls in our class witnessed that her sister followed the plan & was debt free at one time. she was off work for a year & got herself back in trouble. So now her & her sister are doing the plan, one's in FPU, the other on her own. I bet she'll become debt free again.
