Well, if you've never thought about taking FPU, this class is worth all the money I paid for it. We were able to bring a friend to this class so I asked a co-worker of mine that I know would benefit from learning this stuff. I tell you, the way we are brainwashed in this world is pitiful. The more I read & listen to this stuff, the more mad I get at how our society allows this kind of behavior. Well, you should know that I am now an awakened consumer & it is time for me to stir the pot. :stir: I am going to make sure that my kids, my grandkids & anybody else that'll listen to be aware & enlightened consumers. I have had enough! I will start looking at what my kids are watching & listening to more now.

Has anyone seen the Member Resource Center on DR's website? It is fantastic. We get to use it while we are in FPU classes but I think I will definitely sign up once we're done. It has budgets & all kinds of info. The budgets are self-calculating even to how much percentage is each item in your budget. I really like that & am looking forward to using it. Also, at the top it says "Gazelle Budget", I love it!

I know now that I'm going to buy FPU for my daughter & her DBF. This would be really good for them & especially since they're so young, it can make a significant change in your life & in the lives of those around you.

Oh, & my co-worker that went to class with me, I was so proud, she was participating & asking questions. And she really enjoyed the class & came away with the same thoughts about consumerism that I did, how things are hidden. For instance, Visa sponsoring programs in our schools or American Express being on the cereal boxes. They are really trying to capture our young people early. And I don't like that!

Sorry for being strong this morning, I am starting to get mad at my debt & what's going on around me. Thanks for letting me blow off steam. :thumb:

Thanks Darlene,

I tell you, it's time for us to wake up. I was really disappointed when he started pointing out things around us every day. And a lot of these things I've just tuned out. One thing he says on one of the tapes is "Everybody knows what an amoeba (sp?) is, now that's a good piece of information." And he's right, I've never needed to know what an amoeba is. But balancing a checkbook, never did that until I was an adult & had a checking acct. What I have learned is that credit is good, that you're somebody & I did think that especially when my credit score hit over 800. I felt like I had been working hard to get that & I had been but just working the wrong way. So, now I'm feeling really gazelle right now & I really am ready to get out of debt. I want to be free!!!!! Anybody with me on that?!

CHris, I am with you. I have been trying to do Dave's plan, but medical bills for my kids are slowing us down. DD had surgery on her back etc. and then this past weekend went through a barb wire fence in the dark playing Hide and Seek at our family soccer party. Off to th Er for stitches and onto a specialist etc. It makes me frustrated.

Buckeye5: I know what you mean about getting discouraged. My budget has been thrown out of whack, too. I did have my bEF in place but have steadily had to dip into it so now it's down to under $150. Over the past 3 weeks, I've had to put new tires on my SUV, pay for a trip for my niece (who lives with me), buy her a coat and I had several gas & carbon monoxide leaks in my house (the plumber was at my house for 2 days). So it's been an expensive month but I'm still going to try & not let it derail me too much but just strive to get back on track. I need to get back on track bill-wise, build my bEF back up to $1000, then get gazelle.
