Kohl's has a program called Kohl's Cares for Kids and they usually sell books and stuffed animals for 5$ with all the proceeds going to children's charities.

So today, I bought Wesley two hardcover collector's edition Dr. Suess books (Grinch and Sneeches) and two large stuffed animals, one the grinch (he stands up to my kneecap) and the other his reindog max. We're sitting them aside for his Christmas.

Plus, I bought 3 other grinches for various cousins Christmas presents. My total bill was 37$ and I have purchased 7 gifts! The best part to this: all proceeds go to charity and it's a tax deduction. So I was able to purchase nice gifts for people, they are gifts that other children will benefit from, and I get a tax deduct!

Can I get a whoop whoop! :dancing:

I just wanted to share that in case anyone else is interested!

Whoop! Whoop! Good job. My favorite Christmas movie/character is the Grinch. I need to go to Kohl's to get one for me!

I didn't know they were tax deductible. I've seen them before and thought they would be an inexpensive gift.

I hate to be the one to be the bearer of bad news but .......My DH is a CPA (Cerified Public Accountant) and I checked with him about the tax deduction on this. Unfortunately you cannot legally deduct this from your taxes. The program Kohls Cares For Kids is not a "qualified charitable organization" as outlined by the IRS in publication 526. This is just a program runned by Kohls to collect money to donate to charitable organizations, it is not a charitable organization itself. The money they (Kohls) make off of the items you purchase is in turn donated to a "qualified charitable organization" under their name and they are the ones who take the tax deduction.
Even if you make a purchase from a "qualified charitable organization", the only amount you can then deduct is the amount you paid above the fair market value of the item...for example:you paid $10.00 for item that has a fair market value of $4.00, you can then deduct $6.00 from your taxes.

Eh, either way they're great Christmas presents for a small amount of money and the money goes to a good cause. Better than spending my $ for the same thing at Target and lining the big corporations pockets.
