I've tried to find info. on her now & what her updated status is. Has she completely gone "underground" or I wonder if she'll ever come back to write another book?:shrug2:
I've searched the internet, but nothing comes up, so she must have gone into seclusion!!
Just curious if anyone here knows anything?:listen:

I have asked this myself and can't seem to find any answers. I'd love to know how things are working out for her!

I can't even find a picture to link a face to all the great info I've read. *sigh* I guess with notoriety comes the feeling of one's space being invaded all the time, wouldn't blame her if she did go underground from the public eye.

She always said that the TWG was a means to an end. Which meant that once she had enough money for her kids to go to college on and to live off of she would retire from public life. So I guess that is what she has done.

I would be curious to know how things are going for especially since her children are all grown or teenagers and how she handles the high prices of things now compared to in the 1990's. Things are definately different now as to what they were 15-20 years ago. I try to follow a lot of her advice, but when gas prices hit the $3.50 mark in KY, things got a whole lot tighter! LOL.

She did a yearly newsletter for a few years after the book. Someone here on FV had links to it. I printed them out at the time. Though, in the last few years, I'm not sure if she's published anything. So, do a search on her on FV and you might find the person that had posted the link. I believe you had to email her and she emailed the letters. This was about a year ago.

Yeah, I wish that she would do a follow-up newsletter or even a blog to update all of us TWG lovers!!:thumb:
I would love to know how her family is doing & what she's been up to since the publishing of her books. I can't find anything at all about her online. The only things that pop up are links to order her books.
I think it would be interesting to see where they are now, kind of thing, kwim?;)

I am a huge 'Tightwad' fan and snatched up each of Amy's 3 books as soon as they hit the shelves. I am in the middle of reading the first one again right now. I always notice something useful each time.
I think Amy decided to drop off the grid after her last book. If you have read it, she pretty much says this is it. She wrote the books to spread the tightwad philosphy and now that many people have embraced it, her work was done. The newsletter did continue for a while afterward, but I think someone else was actually editing them.
Although I miss Amy, I can't blame her for ending TG. Think of all the years she spent working on the newsletters and books instead of being able to spend time with her husband and children. She deserves to enjoy herself.
If you think about it, Amy's dropping out coincided with the rise of the internet. The PennyPincher and Cheapskate went internet in a big way and there was a TG website for a while run by fans. I think the technology just passed Amy by and she did not want to spend more time researching and coming up with FZ ideas applicable to the web. It is a huge undertaking and impossible without plenty of staff to do research.
I remember about 5 or 6 years ago reading a news article that Amy was writing another TG book and I kept checking Amazon for it. Apparently that fell through and I never heard anything else about it. I was incredibly disappointed.
A lot of people ask about her on different boards and so far no one has been able to find any current info on her. I have searched the web and the newspaper and t.v. websites for Maine and there is nothing on her for the past several years. Looks like she realized that dream of retiring on her farm - with attached barn.
