View Full Version : What are your fav. recipes from the TWG books?
cheles2kids 10-30-2006, 09:51 PM I've just pulled my books out of hiding & have been re-reading them, and am wondering if any of you have tried any of her recipes & if so, which ones are your favs., OR which ones didn't work at all for you?
The tuna cheddar soup sounded yummy to me, but haven't made it yet, I might try it later on in the week & I'll come back & let you all know how it worked. I'm going to give her cheese sauce a try for the baked potatoes, that's what we're having tomorrow night for dinner, baked potatoe bar.:lip:
So......what's your favs.?

severina 10-30-2006, 10:14 PM I baked the raisin oatmeal scones a few weeks ago. We really like them. They seem like a fancy breakfast but they're made out of inexpensive pantry items. A little butter, honey, and tea and you have a filling afternoon snack, or tiffin, as we call it.

I also have this one marked to try, they sounded sooo good. :thumb: I'm glad to know that you've tried them & they worked out good for you!
Thanks for sharing!

celina 10-31-2006, 09:22 AM the breadcrumb cookies are a hit here...i liked her taco seasoning...her pancake syrop and her chocolate syrop and her hot cocoa...ive been planing to try the scones forever
Nantahala 10-31-2006, 10:01 AM The universal muffin recipe, the quiche (w/o crust) and the Cuban bread are all favorites.
nuisance26 10-31-2006, 11:05 AM ~I didn't like the bread crumb cookies but my son did. I didn't care for the whipped topping(although I have used it as a takeoff for a chocolate yogurt mouse recipe). I didn't like the spagetti sauce either, but it might have been the tomatoes I used. The chocolate syrup recipe is great, but I cut the sugar in half.~
celina 10-31-2006, 11:25 AM cuban bread is another i want to try..and thanks for the sugar tip....
my cookies come out so moist ( i add more water) they are like a brownie
cheles2kids 10-31-2006, 12:36 PM I have the cuban bread down to try as well. Quick question, I know in the book she says just to place the bread on a baking sheet, but I'm wondering if that makes the bread spread?
From my understanding isn't it supposed to come out in a big round loaf?:ponder:
I wondered about the breadcrumb cookies too, I may still give them a try to see how they turn out? What didn't you like about them, Nuisance26?
Thanks everyone for posting your favs. everyone!:tay:

ellebee 10-31-2006, 04:23 PM I love the quiche with the rice crust recipe and the universal muffin recipe - both are great to use up leftovers! :fdance:
yankeegal 11-02-2006, 08:48 PM I love the cuban bread and my kid's always loved the "porcupine" meatballs..I still make those from time to time. And when I make pizza, I always use her recipe.

Nope, it doesn't spread. It is a nice, heavy loaf and it so pretty when you bake it. It comes out round and brown and ready for the eating! :munch:
I love the Cuban bread, the universal muffin recipe (made delicious peanut butter banana muffins out of that), the pizza dough recipe (though I make it all by hand instead of making it with the machine like she does). I have tried the hot chocolate one, but I used soy milk powder and it didn't come out as nice. I also tried the homemade cracker recipe but I didn't like them as much, though I might've overcooked them.
I would love to try the tuna cheddar chowder recipe, please post your review!
dennise53 11-06-2006, 11:52 AM The Pumpkin Loaf recipie is sooooo good! We make it a lot here at our home!
