I am posting this mustard sauce that my great grandmother gave me when I graduated from high school. My family loves it ! I make alot for gifts at xmas time and it is awesome on a meat and cheese tray! Enjoy!
Wonderful Mustard Sauce
1/2 cup butter/margarine (butter is better)
1/2 cup white sugar
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup tomato soup
1/2 cup prepared mustard (i use no name brand mustard here)
1/3 cup cider vinegar
In top of double boiler cream together butter and sugar. When fluffy, add egg yolks that have been well beaten. Add tomato soup, mustard, and vinegar.
Cook over hot water: stir frequently until smooth and fairly thick.
At this point you can pour into a pint jar and put in the frieg. It keeps indefinately. Or you can cap and seal, and place in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes.
I make several batches of this and place in 1/2 pint jars and water bath for gift baskets.
