I"m not sure where to post this so I picked here :) My 11 mo old won't stop biting me! I have bruises all over my shoulders and arms. He hasn't learned to use his beautiful 4 teeth for only good and not evil. This is the first time I"ve been happy to NOT breast feed! Any suggestions on how to get him to stop? TIA< Jaci

I had a biter, I can totally understand. OUCH!
What I did was as soon as he bit me, I put him down. Either in the playpen or in the high chair. I kept it simple. I said, that hurts. We don't bite. Biting is for food, not people.
Every single time he bit, whether it was during a feeding or just out of frustration or boredom, I put him down away from me. It took a few weeks but eventually he got that if he bit, the contact/feeding/playtime was over.

I don't believe in biting children who bite. That sends mixed messages... "don't bite me, but I can bite you"

Perfect suggestion, thank you! That makes absolute sense. I"ve been telling him 'ouch, no bite' and giving him a teething ring or something else he can bite. But putting him down will definately help get the message across.

~My MIL told to me to give the biter a fishy face(squeeze their cheeks together slightly) and look them in the eye when you firmly say 'no'. It worked great for both my biters!~
