View Full Version : For those of you who have livestock, what do you have? homesteadmamma 08-21-2002, 06:01 PM What livestock do you have? Have you had them for a long time? Tell us about them. doodlebug 08-23-2002, 01:42 AM We have 2 pygmy goats right now, both are wethers. The white one is Johnny and the black one is Sylvester. I used to have 2 does and a billy goat and they gave me 2 sets of twins ( a male and a female in each set). I sold all but the 2 boys, they were soooo cute the day they were born, I went out to do the feeding and both does had given birth within the hour and I was so thrilled to find all those little babies:) I sold the moms because I couldn't keep them in the fence, the doggone critters wanted to be on the wrong side of the fence all the time; never had any problems with the billy though, he was actually a spoiled rotten sweetie. And the 2 I have now are really sweet too. Oh, and yes, billy goats DO smell awful, lol, but the does and wethers don't have a smell. We did have chickens until a varmint decided to kill all of them:( I'd love to have chickens again but know that I would have to build a completely varmint-proof pen for them and right now we just don't have the money to put into the materials to do it. Maybe someday. I really liked my chickens, the rooster was a real sweetie and never mean in any way and I enjoyed just watching the hens scratching and preening and they would always come running any time they saw me or dd. We had one white polish chicken that loved to be picked up and held and petted. Guess you can tell I really like chickens, lol. :chicken: crdurham 08-28-2002, 01:48 PM I don't have any (live in the city) :( but my dad is a farmer...he has several hundred cattle and he it a cattle buyer for several ranchers in his county.
