An update for my frugal friends. :jabber: Got our emergency fund fully funded. Seemed like it took forever, and it wasn't even a huge amount, $6,000 for our FFEF, but we hit it Friday.

For us this would be 3 months living expenses as they are now, or just under 6 months living expenses bare-bones.

Now.... time to tackle that mortgage and student loan. *rubs hands together*

Just sitting here in a weird place. For a long time it seemed that we weren't getting any traction. Yet we stuck it, out and now it feels like blessings just keep heading our way. I got hired back at the hospital I wanted and they started me out at more an hour than I was asking. Then dh's company gave them a very generous gift card we managed to finish Christmas with entirely. Meanwhile we planned and paid in advance in cash a weekend trip to Vegas for just me and the dh at the end of this month. Then dh's company gave us a nice bonus. Now there's rumors of dh getting a raise. :thud:

So here we are.... 15 months after 'seeing the light', the only things we owe anyone for is a student loan and our home mortgage that will both be gone in 2 1/2 years, bills always paid, 6k in the bank for emergencies, income up about 20k a year more, a paid for once-in-a-lifetime trip with cash budgeted for spending money, 3 paid for cars in good shape, and everyone's healthy.

I kept reading and hearing over and over how people just kept getting blessing poured on them when they started doing smart with their money. I hadn't seen it and just kinda snickered 'yeah right'. But it's TRUE!!! I'm sitting here telling ya true, it happens.

So everyone keep up the good work!! It's worth it!!! :dancing:

Wow...good for you! It is good to hear that even when you feel like you aren't getting anywhere you really are, that eventually you do feel good about the choices you make. Congratulations!!

WOW Pammy! I am excited for you and your family. I love to hear the "we did it" stories. It keeps me believing that it can be done!!

How funny that you and your DH paid for a trip to Vegas with cash. DH and I will be in Vegas the weekend of the 22nd. We paid for our trip (plane tickets and room) with cash too! We also have spending money for meals, gambling, sight-seeing, etc. I hope you both have a wonderful trip.

Pammy....things are really going well for you, but then you deserve it. You did what it takes to get there and very few people can really stick to it. The benefits in the end are worth the long hard road to get there. You are an inspiration to those who are striving to get where you are today. I'm proud of you!!!
