View Full Version : any evangelical, conservative,Christians out there?
missymomof3 03-21-2007, 12:25 PM After reading the non-christian thread I thought I would post this.
I'm southern baptist myself and probably will be until I die. I love Christ and dedicate my life to him. I read my bible almost daily and try to live my life "by the book" :-). Anyone else feel the same way?
A great resource for non-Christians and Christians to read alike is The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. wonderful book!
Hi Missy:yeah:(except I'm Evangelical Free) ! I know there are more of us(if you read the thread about finding the Tomb of Christ on the Debate forum). So nice to meet you sister!
Emerald_Mommy 03-21-2007, 03:11 PM Hey, sisters! :) I'm glad someone posted this as I often feel somewhat alone on some of these forums. (Being a christian, being conservative: socially, spiritually and politically)
I'm independent Baptist. My husband and father are actually both Pastors. That's not why I'm Baptist of course, my own convictions make me that!
Tamerama 03-21-2007, 03:15 PM Hello there!
I am a Christian too!! :):grnwave: I have been saved by grace!!
missymomof3 03-21-2007, 03:26 PM Hello there!
I have been saved by grace!!
Amen to that!
Hi. I'm new to the site. I'm a Christian. My goal in life is to be a Proverbs 31 woman.
Jayne 03-21-2007, 03:47 PM Hi all you beautiful Christian sisters!!...I am also a conservative, Pentacostal, born again, saved by Grace, Bible believing Christian!!...I am a member of an Assemblies of God church.....Cinn, your avatar is lovely!!
Jeanna 03-21-2007, 05:03 PM I too am Southern Baptist. But first and foremost I am a Christian. I am conservative and that has led to another post about not having any/many friends. I am just not one to spend the day shopping and gossiping, because that is usually what happens. I fall short everyday but I strive to do my best.
It is good to know that there are others on the list that are sisters in Christ.
Dixie 03-21-2007, 06:40 PM Hey sisters in Christ!
I've been meaning to post the same question. I'm so glad you did, Missymomof3.
Because of God's amazing grace, I'm a born again believer.
I am very conservative, but not Republican, I lean more toward the Constitution party.
Missy 03-21-2007, 06:50 PM I am a member of an Assemblies of God church...
yup, me too :)
And not for nuthin...i am missy and a mom of 3 also ;)
emily_hope 03-21-2007, 11:35 PM I am a Christian, also...Methodist!
IntlMom 03-21-2007, 11:38 PM Me too! Me too!
Saved by the blood of the Lamb!!
I was raised Baptist, I am currently in an Evangelical Free Church - but I am a born again Christian, that's what matters - not the church we attend.
Amanda W 03-21-2007, 11:40 PM I'm also a Christian woman. I was raised Lutheran and attended Lutheran school. We've been attending a non-demoninational Christian church for the last year or so.
Karen, when I was a little girl I always imagined myself being a pastor's wife. It didn't quite happen that way! ;)
Dixie 03-21-2007, 11:44 PM I am a Christian, also...Methodist!
I was raised Methodist and member of the North GA Conference. I have such fond memories of the tiny little country church I attended.
kaykwilts 03-22-2007, 12:58 AM I was raised Methodist, attended a non-demoninational church for 9 years of our marriage and for the last 8 years a Prebysterian church.
VanVivCam 03-22-2007, 09:29 AM I am a Christian and love it.
"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"!
Hubby and I were both raise in Freewill Baptist homes and we would be doing a disservice to our children if we did not raise them in church! Some of our best memories growing up is with our church friends.
missymomof3 03-22-2007, 09:37 AM My goal in life is to be a Proverbs 31 woman.
You are a woman after my own heart! Have you heard of Nancy Leigh deMoss? She has a radio series called Revive Our hearts and just ended a series on Proverbs 31. You can hear it on the website, I beleive it began on Valentine's day and ended Tuesday.
missymomof3 03-22-2007, 09:39 AM It is great to have so many sisters in Christ :hat:
kabin63 03-22-2007, 02:04 PM Yup, I am saved by grace too! I was raised in a Methodist church, but have been to many different ones as an adult. The only thing that matters to me is being saved by His grace.
" The Case For Christ" is a very popular book. When I worked at the Christian Bookstore we had trouble keeping it on the shelves for a while. I think there were lots of bible studies going on.
missymomof3 03-23-2007, 09:19 AM I'm independent Baptist. My husband and father are actually both Pastors. That's not why I'm Baptist of course, my own convictions make me that!
Wow how exciting to have a pastor father AND husband! My husband is not a pastor, but one of our good friends is attending the Southern Baptist seminary and performed our wedding. It was wonderful to have someone so close to us do it for us. My husband was raised Catholic (he's Irish) and was baptised baptist last year.
Emerald_Mommy 03-23-2007, 01:00 PM Wow how exciting to have a pastor father AND husband! My husband was raised Catholic (he's Irish) and was baptised baptist last year.
Not sure "exciting" is the word I would have used as a kid... ;) But now I think it's great. :) And how wonderful about your husband!!
It's neat to have someone close to you do your wedding. My dad did our wedding and it was so meaningful. He gave me away (another pastor friend handled the first part of the ceremony) and then officiated the rest of the ceremony. We managed without too much crying. My husband likes to joke that I wouldn't have married him unless he was a Pastor, which is not strictly true, but it does help. ;)
What's everyone reading in their daily devotions? I'm actually in Proverbs right now. So much to "chew" on there! I read my Bible while I eat breakfast. For years I was not faithful to reading my Bible every day, but then a few years ago I started reading while I eat my cereal and I've rarely missed a day since. What works for you?
missymomof3 03-23-2007, 03:37 PM Well, I don't exactly do devotions but I have began reading the bible start to finish. I have read through the New Testament a couple of times but am now reading the OT. I am in Deuteronomy. I do, however, try to listen to Nancy Leigh Demoss in the mornings. She just did an entire series on Proverbs 31 which was wonderful!
frugalfriend 03-23-2007, 05:06 PM So glad to have found you all! I am a Christian too, saved by grace! I go to a non-denominational church, was raised in a strong Christian home (I'm a p.k. - pastor's kid). My dad is no longer a pastor, but still loves to minister to people wherever he goes.
frugalfriend 03-23-2007, 05:20 PM It's neat to have someone close to you do your wedding. My dad did our wedding and it was so meaningful. He gave me away (another pastor friend handled the first part of the ceremony) and then officiated the rest of the ceremony. We managed without too much crying.
Karen - my dad married us too! I know what you mean, it was incredibly meaningful (and emotional too!) He gave me away and then switched places with the other pastor to finish the ceremony.
frugalfriend 04-08-2007, 06:23 PM HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! HE IS RISEN! HALLELUJAH!
auntie2many 04-08-2007, 10:01 PM He is Risen, Indeed! I am reading in Psalms and 2nd Timothy right now. What works for me is to read in the evening while my husband is on the computer. I know that most people have their quiet time in the morning, but the evening works better for me.
auntie
autumnlynn 04-08-2007, 10:33 PM I'm a born-again Christian. I belong to a Baptist church. I try to read my Bible through each year (I've read it six times!!). Nice to meet all my sisters. I am also conservative.
nwmissourigal 04-13-2007, 10:40 PM I was thrilled to see this post. I am a conservative Christian. The funny thing is that I was adopted...born a jew and adopted by German Methodists. I attend a Christian Union church every Sunday and have a daily walk and devotional with God everyday. I can't go to work without reading the word to start my day. I am born again and thank God everyday for the gift of his son to save us from sin and to give us eternal life. God's speed to all my Christians sisters....Blessings..Kathy
thrifty gal 04-14-2007, 10:57 AM It's great to see other Christians here!! I am a Christian that attends the church of Christ. I try my best to live by the book, and serve Him the way He wants me to. :) My dad is a preacher, but didn't start preaching until about 3 years ago. He's only been a Christian now for 6 years. He opened a church in a nearby community that is very poor, and most there couldn't make it to a church, so now they have one!! I'm very proud of him, but of course we give the glory to God!
nwmissourigal 04-15-2007, 12:36 AM You know that simple, frugal living is found in the bible. God command us to be content with what we have. And people that live the way most of us do are content with what we have. God has helped me in my walk of being simple and following his path. Everyday God takes my hand and walks with me thru the day. I am thinking of starting a bible study on simple living with some women in my church. I just got a new book that is about simple living in God's word. It was one of the most wonderful books I have read in quite awhile. Very inspriational. Everyone have a wonderful and blessed Sunday...Blessings...Kathy
teresaabsurd 04-15-2007, 12:41 AM I love to see threads like this. :)
I'm Catholic. Newly, at that. I have been doing my homework. One book I recommend is "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S.Lewis. My husband got it for me for Christmas and it's wonderful.
latierra84 04-16-2007, 01:52 PM has anyone seen Jesus Camp?
latierra84 04-16-2007, 01:53 PM its a documentary btw.
missymomof3 04-16-2007, 11:23 PM Hello again all! I am sorry I haven't responded lately but the family and I went on vacation last week and I haven't checked this. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.
regarding Jesus camp, no I haven't seen it but have heard of it.

I so agree Kathy! We are also called to be good stewards with our money. :)
Lady Jennelle 04-18-2007, 08:23 PM I'm late in seeing this thread but add me to the list of being a Christian sister. :)
Love,
Jennelle
missymomof3 04-18-2007, 11:34 PM welcome to all the sisters who just recently joined :-) It has been wonderful to meet you all!
trishh 04-18-2007, 11:55 PM I am a born again Christain and i also strive to pattern myself after Proverbs 31. I love the Lord with all my heart.
shovelski 04-30-2007, 05:31 PM Hi,
I am a conservative Catholic.
I pray and read the the Bible every day, also right now I am reading a book called: Disciplines of a godly woman , I love it!
I am very interested in any literature regarding Proverb 31 or Titus 2.
May God bless all of you!
Melanie
DJ1972 04-30-2007, 06:37 PM How did I miss this thread? lol. I am also christian, non-denominational with strong political opinions, but am carefull how I voice them ( something I struggle with daily..my big ol mouth)! Nothing is a bigger turn off to a non-christian than being bullied by the bible from a christian, so my biggest challenge has been learning to lead by example, reflect christ by my actions, and remain humble with my words.
Anyway, back to topic, glad to meet all of you!:dancing:
My quest to be a better steward with my money is what started my interest in the frugal life style.
Lady Jennelle 05-03-2007, 01:37 AM Dear Friends,
I am asking for you to please pray for Heather [who is one of our Christian sisters] because she is having brain surgery done on Thursday [today!] to have a large tumor removed.
Thank you to all who send up prayers for this precious lady and her family,
I know that they will appreciate all of the prayers they can get during this trying time.
If you’d like to keep track with updates on how Heather is doing, please click here (http://www.especiallyheather.com/).
Love,
Jennelle
missymomof3 05-03-2007, 10:19 AM Done! I read the page you sent and she seems like a wonderful, strong, on fire woman and you are blessed to know her!
aueilie 05-03-2007, 05:52 PM I am. My husband is a pastor and has been for a long time. Do to his health he doesn't preach in a church and that isn't what God had planned for him. His calling was to work in the Department of Correction in MO where he would talk to officers about God. He did this until he had to retire after his strokes/heart attack. Now he spends time talking to our children, family and friends.
Jennelle, We will be praying for your friend.
julieb 05-03-2007, 07:37 PM I am a christian. I was raised in a Lutheran home and attend a Lutheran Church now. May 20 my husband converts to my religion. It took me two years to get him to church and now he loves the worship, the people and understands he is saved by grace.
Peace to all my christian sisters.
became4347 05-03-2007, 09:28 PM I am also a member of Rapture Ready Forum. I have been off-line for a couple of months and today have found that some sort of turmoil has erupted. They had to restart the forum from scratch, and everyone has had to re-register.
Just curious if there are other RR posters out there who can tell me the scoop.
momscareer 05-03-2007, 10:23 PM I am a christian, I would also like to be a Proverbs 31 woman. But, boy is it hard sometimes. I attend a small apostolic, pentecostal church and love it. I'm trying to read my Bible through.
Lady Jennelle 05-04-2007, 12:54 AM Welcome Momscareer,
I too, try to be a Proverbs 31 woman but as you say - it sure can be hard at times!
became 4347, I've never heard of the Rapture Ready site before I read your post. Can you p.m. the link for it to me so I can check it out?
Love,

3pups 05-04-2007, 10:06 AM I don't know how I missed this thread! I am a Christian- saved since the age of 5. I'm an Independant Baptist. I currently attend a wonderful Church here in Goldboro that is really involved in the community and preaching the word of God.
I try to read my Bible everyday. I usually sit by the front door and read it around 11am. I don't know why I do it there, but I do. I'm currently reading Galations (I've been working my way thru the new testament). But- I also read one Proverb a day.
Since I am Karen's sister (emeraldmommy), I also grew up with a Dad who was a pastor. He gave me away and performed the ceremony at our wedding too. Although I didn't marry a Pastor, my husband is in the military which I'm very proud of!
I guess that's it for me right now. It's so great to hear from all you ladies!
orlivin1225 06-26-2007, 11:21 PM Christian Here too!!!
DH and I moved from SoCal to OR after God opened the door and pushed us through it! lol DH is currently working under the youth pastor at our church (Calvary Chapel) and will someday be taking over that position. Neither DH or I were raised in a Christian home, but once God got his hold on us, we've never wanted Him to let go!!
I'm so happy that I've found this thread, because I was actually thrown off of a homeschooling board for getting into a debate with the Muslim board leader. Evidently, it was okay for her to proclaim her beliefs, but not okay for me to proclaim mine... I'm pretty opinionated (no, really I am...lol) and I didn't know if it was 'okay' to discuss religious beliefs.
After a very long school year, DH and I have decided to Homeschool our 2 kids. After careful research and LOTS of prayer, God has opened the door for that too. Please pray for us as we begin our endeavor this fall...
((((((Christian sisters)))))))
Dixie 06-26-2007, 11:25 PM Hi Lorrie and welcome to the Village! :)
ilovechocolate 07-11-2007, 04:59 PM Becoming a Christian was and is the best thing I ever did! It'll be 23 years on the 24th of July. Wish it had happened much earlier in my life, but He has used all my experiences before my salvation to help me and others learn a lot more about Him.
I'm also blessed to teach in a public school where almost all my co-workers are Christian.
sdrjeolsen 07-11-2007, 05:22 PM me too! Non-denominational. I grew up catholic and...okay showing my age...got born again during the catholic charismatic movement in the mid 70s at a "Cross and the Switchblade" film. Love God with all my heart, and have seen him work some mighty things in my life. Couldn't imagine my life without Him.
Great thread.
strvng2bfrugal 07-30-2007, 04:56 PM Hi. I'm new to the site. I'm a Christian. My goal in life is to be a Proverbs 31 woman.
I really feel like this. Proverbs 31 is my goal but I am far from it. I need to get my life together more, get my heart completely for Christ and make some good Christian friends so that I can fellowship with those who believe the same things I do. My favorite bible verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17, it's a verse a try to pattern my life after. "I am a New Creation in Christ, the Old is Gone, Behold the New has Come.
ilovechocolate 07-30-2007, 07:15 PM Hi again! Not only do we both live in middle Georgia, but I'm a Christian too (see message 52 above).
I'll never be all I should be, but I'm loved by God anyway.
nwmissourigal 08-03-2007, 12:40 AM I am so glad to see that this thread is still thriving. I have been online for a couple of months and it is good to be back. I am a christian and have been ever since I can remember. I attend the Community Alliance Bible Chruch. It is like Christian Union. I am active in church and I love the Lord so much. I cannot imagine walking in this world of ours today without faith. Blessings to you all..Kathy
lwlynch 08-03-2007, 12:54 PM I am a christian, actually raised presbyterian and then attended Lutheran church in my teenage years. I also went to a Catholic school for 8 years. So I am trying to teach my children the values of a true caring person, with respect and love first most for God and family. It is a very challenging world out there. I feel that I fight all the time to keep the balance.
Hi to everyone.
c1cooper1 08-17-2007, 01:19 AM New to this site, but definitely not new to the Lords work and not new to Frugal Living! When the peace of God fills your life, it is just almost impossible for "worldly goods" to compete. Not saying I'm perfect, just forgiven! :cheer4: Yeah God!!
changed4life 08-25-2007, 08:57 AM Hi! I'm new to this site and I'm a christian woman too...I feel so blessed to be with others who share the same faith. Looking forward to getting to chat with you all and share our strength and faith with each other!
Raised Catholic but now attend a Baptist church for more than 6 years. It's great to finally have a church home where I feel comfortable and feel spiritual growth. Born again for more than 10 years! Wouldn't want to live my life any other way. My screen name says it all!
I'm not terribly conservative, but I'm a Christian nonetheless. I was raised in a very religious home and have carried that into my own home. I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints (the Mormons). It's nice to find other Christians, thanks for starting this thread. :)
Someone asked earlier in the thread about Bible/scripture study. My hubby and I find that we like to do it at night with Oliver before we put him to bed. He can't understand yet, but I think he likes being with us anyway.
HisDaisy 08-28-2007, 12:12 AM I am Christian too!! I was raised in non-Christian, believe what you want home. My folks were shocked when a became a Christian in college (at State School nonetheless). My husband also become a Christian in college. We were baptized on the same day. Ten years later were where married.
We currently attend a non-denotational church, but have moved recently and will be church hunting soon. I am not looking forward to it. I love our current church and grown so much there, but it is just to far to drive.
I am glad to see that there are other Christians here.
kayd1966 10-09-2007, 01:59 PM Hi :lhat:...I am...born and raised into a Plymouth Brethern missionary family. Strayed for a few years but I KNOW that God was with me every step of the way. He has protected me beyond belief and even though I live the consequences of sin...The Lord is over all so I'm just doing my best to raise my kids right and be an example of Jesus in all I do.
Currently I'm looking for a church because we just moved to Texas from Alberta, Canada.
Missourimom 10-09-2007, 10:52 PM I'm borderline conservative, but definitely a "Christian."
CampCrazyMom 10-11-2007, 08:39 AM I'm a (some-what) conservative Christian. Our church was a Independent Baptist. We have merged with another church and are now a Non-denom. Bible Church. Not much has changed though. Many of our members still consider themselves Ind. Baptist.
angeljzmom 10-14-2007, 12:41 AM Hi. I'm new to the site. I'm a Christian. My goal in life is to be a Proverbs 31 woman.
Hi Cinn,
That is my goal too. I just wanted to say welcome , this is a great place to find recipes, advice and friends.
ImEmile 10-28-2007, 06:50 AM Hi, friends.
I'm Beth. I was born and raised Lutheran. No Lutheran school for me but I'd love to send my kids to one. Right now we're living in Kuwait so that's not an option in my wildest dreams. LOL My DH is a contractor and I'm a teacher. DS1 is 10 and attends a British curriculum school. If we're still here when he's ready for middle school/high school (I really hope not) then we'll switch to one with an American curriculum. The twins are 3 1/2 so they're home with our maid/nanny.
My grandfather was a Lutheran pastor and while I'm willing to change churches if needs must (right now we're attending an Anglican church) I would have to remain in a liturgical church if at all possible. I love knowing that the lessons being read in church that morning are being read by millions the world over in their worship services. I love the church we're attending here. We're from UK, USA, Asia, Africa, South America. A wonderful mix of people who are there to worship the Lord in a Muslim country.
ImEmile 10-28-2007, 07:02 AM I forgot to mention my devotional (someone had asked about one)...I take Luther's advice...I start with the Lord's Prayer, read the Apostle's Creed, and say Luther's Morning or Evening Prayer. I find this to be a good springboard for other prayers I feel the need to say. If I'm just not in a praying frame of mind, it keeps me from not doing it.
Also, I'm trying to read through the Bible. I read 2 chapters in the OT and 1 in the NT each day (but lots of forgotten days I'm sorry to say). Right now I'm in Psalms and rereading Luke.
frugal-fannie 10-29-2007, 04:07 PM I attended the Methodist church growing up, on and off. My parents were not real religious so it was pretty much up to us if we went or not. I then worked at night with a nurse who was born again she explained the plan of salvation and I was baptized at 18. I went to college and married right before my 21st birthday. My husband was not real religious even though God helped me out and I met one of the few Christian Chinese people out there. I sent my kids to Lutheran school, attended their information classes and joined. I have been lucky having a boss who is a friend and an adventist who we could discuss god with every day it also helped working at Catholic hospitals.I am no longer working with her but she is my sister in christ. My husband had a sudden conviction after over 10 years of marriage and now reads every the bible every day.We attend Calvary Chapel-Diamond Bar where Raul Ries is the pastor. My husband attended Brethren church some growing up and we like the Message at calvary chapel but looking for a little smaller church. I like the lutheran church but my husband doesn't feel the same so we are still looking. The Lutherans have good money management principles.

ShadowMom 11-15-2007, 03:33 PM Hi, I am a conservative Independent Baptist. My husband and I have a motorcycle ministry.
Andrea
frugal-fannie 11-16-2007, 11:28 AM Welcome. It sounds like you have a great ministry.
thriftstorequeen 11-16-2007, 01:00 PM Hi! Don't know how I missed this site. I love sharing my testimony of how the Lord saved me! I've been walking with my my sweet Lord for about 33 yrs now. I was raised Catholic. I always had an awareness of God. I always wanted to know Him better. After the birth of my first child I wanted something for him to grab ahold of. I started searching. It was during this time that my hubby's brother was wonderfully saved. He shared the "good news" with us. My hubby and I started attending a little Baptist church is out town. The Pastor kept coming to visit us and share what Christ could do for us! My hubby and I weren't going to get like his brother so we kept pushing Christ away. We thought if we went to church and lived right everything would work out. After a visit to my hubbby's folks house i realized that I needed to make things right with God. That night in my bed before going to sleep I asked the Lord to forgive my sins and my pride. I asked Him to become my Lord and Saviour. And He did!!!! It was the best thing I ever did. i still had the pride thing and I couldn't tell my hubby because we had made a pack of sorts. Well we went to church that next Sunday. At the end of the service the pastor gave an alter call. He had never used this one before. This time he stated that there may be someone out there that had asked Jesus to save them but had never told anyone. He said if that is you come on down on the next verse, I like to talk with you. Well I rose to my feet and at the same time so did my hubby. He had done the same thing during the week. We went forward and were baptized 2wks later! All five of my kids know the Lord and they have married belivers. Our first grandchild to be saved and baptized just did so about 2wks ago. Oh what joy!!!! My favorite verse is John 3:16. I'm so glad that God loves us and made a way to heaven for us!

Dixie 04-21-2008, 06:08 PM Hi Vigilant20, welcome to the kith! :D
forHISglory 04-21-2008, 10:47 PM You know what? I didn't know this thread was here, but I had already sort of picked out various posters that I thought might be believers, just from your content and word choices.
I too am a born again believer, saved by grace, not of anything that I have done. I was raised by believing parents in a variety of Baptist churches, but I chose to be Southern Baptist. I am involved in various ministries: Lay Renewal, taking meals to those in crisis, working with Sunday School, Bible school, Awana. I teach ladies Bible studies, also. I am constantly in awe of how God works through these, and how blessed I am to be a part.
My hubby was not a believer when I met him in college, but he was the nicest man I had ever met. God took hold of his life. He was saved and we were married. How wonderful to have a believing husband and be able to share this part of our lives.
I try to live my Christianity in word, thought and deed, and hope that I have shown that in my various postings on this site. I was a public school teacher for a few years, but spent most of my career teaching in Catholic schools. It was wonderful there to be able to speak so freely of Christ.
Anyway, just wanted to come on board!
HisDaisy 04-22-2008, 02:06 AM I got a chance to attend the Just give me Jesus event in Des Moines this weekend. Anne Graham Lotz is an amazing speaker. I would highly recommend attending one of here events if you get a chance.
forHISglory 04-22-2008, 11:08 AM I have not seen Anne Graham Lotz in person, but I just finished a women's Bible study that she wrote: "I Saw The Lord". And it was accompainied by a DVD of her teaching, along with Henry Blackaby.
My mother met Ms. Lotz in Burlington, IA a couple years ago, I think, at a conference.
searching4 04-22-2008, 04:01 PM Hi everyone! I'm new to the site and I am also a born again Christian too! My family and I attend a non-denominational church. It's so nice to see so many Christian on here :teddy2:!

I have one of her books at home. I think I got it free somehow. I haven't gotten around to reading it yet.
I just finished reading the Augsburg Confessions with some great commentaries. Now I'm reading the Large Catechism of Martin Luther. Nothing like a little light reading. LOL
jennybethg 04-30-2008, 05:57 AM Hi! I was a non-practicing Catholic and didn't really have any fundamental knowledge :( DH and I decided to start going to church about a month ago to Assemblies of God service-which he grew up with.
We are blessed to have Assemblies of God missionaries that have answered God's call and have set up here in Germany for the military community.
Lilolme 05-05-2008, 12:58 AM I'm also a Southern Baptist! I'm also Conservative! I'm also a Republican!
It is good to see there are some who are not afraid to say they love Jesus!
Lissa 06-11-2008, 01:18 PM Hi, I am conservative and Catholic; love my faith; love my church; love my Lord; and love my family. We're trying to do the right thing by living conservatively and trying to be good stewards to the income God has blessed us with.
Does anyone here tithe and give to mission work? Just curious.
Also, is anyone here "quiverfull" (meaning, accepting as many children as God will give you)? This is not really a Catholic thing as much as a natural family planning movement. (No, we're not crazy - just love lots of kids!)
Clutterbug Jen 06-15-2008, 11:53 AM Add me to this kith!
Lissa, yes - I tithe and give to missions work [such as to Samaritan's Purse and Feed the Children so I imagine those would count, wouldn't they?
I mean, I don't give to missionaries personally but figure that the $ to Samaritan's Purse would probably help to support missions as well.

heartofmine 06-15-2008, 01:29 PM Wow am I tickled to find you all here. I am a born again child of God. I attend a United Baptist church and we are about as conservative as it gets. LOL I am blessed to have had Christian parents. My dad has been a minister for 40 years. I am also blessed to have a Christian husband and 2 young adult children.
IamBlessed 07-10-2008, 11:44 PM I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm a returning "newbie" as of today. And I am blessed to say that I am a blood bought, born again, forgiven-but-not-perfect Christian. I was brought up Southern Baptist and DH was brought up Pentecostal; we currently attend and serve in a wonderful little Southern Baptist church named Union Baptist. Nothing fancy, just good Christian people coming together to worship. The denomination isn't the important thing; the like minded Christian fellowship and worship is what we enjoy. It's great to meet like minded people!
Be Blessed

Clutterbug Jen 07-11-2008, 01:40 AM Amen to that! :)

MommyBliss 07-12-2008, 01:27 AM Hi there!
I'm a Christian too. It's so nice to meet some like minded folk!
MamaPyratekk 07-16-2008, 10:49 AM I'll join up here. I'm not really that conservative (more moderately liberal) but I'm a very devout Christian so this place fits me better than the non-christian kith lol :D
DaisySue 08-06-2008, 06:23 PM What brought me to the kith section was the thread of non-believers....so I looked farther and found this!
I am a fairly conservative Christian. I did not attend church as a child, but always felt like I was missing something. I always had a belief in God, buy he was not an important part of our lives.
We started to church and were baptized when our kids were very young. Since that time I think I have grown closer to the Lord, while sadly my dh has backslidden. I think he finds being a Christian restricting, and envies people who are non-Christians with the supposed "freedoms" they have.
This has caused a lot of family and marriage problems, but the Lord is first and foremost the most important in my life and that will not change for anyone. I need to pray more for dh for a turnaround, but I have been very discouraged the last 4 years. Anyway, I am done rambling! Nice to read all your posts, they are wonderful!
Hello! I am a born-again, Bible believing, Christian too! Glad to meet you all. I was raised a Catholic, now I go to a Calvary Chapel. I have been saved for 17 years. Thank the Lord!
frugal-fannie 08-07-2008, 01:11 AM Welcome , It is so nice that there our more joining. One of the big reasons I am a member of FV. Is to use my recourses wisely and have more money to support the works. Part of my funds go to 5 world vision kids. I would like to add more but paying my debt down before I take on more financial obligations. I am looking at other low cost ways non-financial means to add to the Lord's work. One is donation of cambells soup labels to Good shepherd -a home for the handicapped or one of the christian preschools. Another is donation of goods to Lutheran high thrift store. I also like to support the missionary field with change. That they combine and do large mission works with LWML. I also like to put recycling money toward this. and the other is donating time to clean the sanctuary or to do alter guild again. We also get together and do homeless bags for Lutheran Social Services to hand out. So I look out at yard sales for the sample sizes to donate. I do my clicks on the bible site, the hunger site, etc. Any one else have any low cost or other ideas for ministry that people with little cash can do.
Clutterbug Jen 08-07-2008, 11:35 AM I don't have any other ideas for you [but think your's are incredible!]
I also do the daily clicks each day! :)
Jen
ilovechocolate 08-07-2008, 09:41 PM I do the clicks too.
I donate any Christian books that I no longer want to our church or to missions.
How about donating baby products to a pro-life group?
I also sponsor a World Vision child.
And of course----praying for others.
I don't have any other ideas for you [but think your's are incredible!]
