:dancing: I went to HyVee and they were cleaning out the freezers and had left boxes of frozen food out. Each box was marked 10.00. I asked was that price for the whole box......yes it was they said. Hmmmmmmmmm
I took two boxes and got. 10 frozen pizza's, icecream, frozen bread dough, frozen vegetables, frozen dinners. Well you get the idea.....it was alot. I am guestimating around 100.00 in groceries for 20.00. I cheated a bit and did a little switcheroo with some of the products in those boxes. They didn't seem to care.
Nothing in these boxes were bad and only one pizza was a bit crumbled, and a few frozen dinners dented up. :dancing:
I guess I was at the right place at the right time. I sure wish I knew the schedule for cleaning out the freezers at HyVee. Despite my best efforts to find out. They wouldn't tell me.......lol.
Anyone had a similiar experience??

I used to be able to do that in the produce departments at a couple of stores here but they must do their cleaning out at night now!
Way to go on capturing the bargains. I wonder how many other people would have passed it by!

Wow, I only wish I could hit the jackpot like that. The best deal I got so far was for the cat litter I use. It is being discontinued, so it was on sale for $1.64 a bag. I bought all they had on the shelf. (6 bags)

Wow, that's an amazing deal! :thumb: The best thing I ever happened upon was at Walmart this past January. I found those little gas candle lighters on for .99 ea. I bought a life time supply...

WTG... We do not have one of those stores around here. I wonder if Sav-a-lot does the same kind of thing.
My one time "the right place at the right time" was at BJ's. It was late on Sunday. They had bags of boneless, skinless chicken breasts for .88 a lb.. The sell by date was the same day. I bought all I could and froze it soon after getting home. Whole chicken was selling for .99 a lb. I was sooo happy.

I work at a grocery store, and they never let us have any bargains. They say that it's a liability issue, and they send most damaged stuff back to the vendors, or just throw it out. They throw out enough stuff every day to feed me for a month. It's sad. We aren't allowed to take it home, or even buy it at a discount.
