View Full Version : where do you buy your ink cartridges? DJ1972 06-07-2007, 10:40 PM My printer is out of ink. I hate buying cartridges. Wondering where you guys have found the cheapest? acidcookie 06-08-2007, 12:18 AM I buy generic cartridges from eBay. With some you have to move the chip from an authentic cartridge over to the generic, and the printer can't always read the ink levels, but they work so it doesn't matter to me. Recently I bought 5 generic black cartridges for my printer (normally $12 or so a piece for name brand) for $12 total, shipping included. Southernmama 07-01-2007, 09:31 PM Oh good question since I was curious myself. $30 for our color and $20 for our B&W is a huge haul for us and I don't look forward to it. We have color ink because of my HS'ing of the girls. Its_Donna 07-01-2007, 09:37 PM I buy mine at Staples. I take in the empty one and they give me back 3.00 instantly off the purchase of the new one....I just bought one Friday and it was 15.00 reg. price...I paid 12.00 (plus tax). They give back money on HP, Lexmark and Dell. Check with your local Staples, I'm sure they do the same thing. They also offer this: http://www.staples.com/sbd/cre/marketing/easybutton/inkdrop.html?cm_sp=creative-_-easy%20button_workgr06-_-inkdrop SandNOceanGirl 07-02-2007, 08:36 AM Have you ever tried refills for your cartridges? Most Walgreens will refill them for $10.00/Black and $20.00/color. Here is a link to see if there is one near you. http://www.walgreens.com/ink DJ1972 07-02-2007, 09:39 AM Thanks, I had no idea that staples gave you $ for you old one or that Walgreens refilled them. Gonna check with walgreens first, as it is closer. nuisance26 07-02-2007, 09:49 AM ~I have a 7 year old Epson that works great. I buy generic ink cartridges on Ebay. I just got 2 color, 2 BW for $10, shipping included. I've never had a problem with generics/Ebay. I even print stickers, photos and t-shirt transfers with them.~ BornInSeptember 07-02-2007, 04:46 PM walmart. I think that their prices are better than some other places. earthmamaof2 07-02-2007, 07:09 PM i pay to have them refilled. It is 10.00 for black...13.00 for color. I usually get 3-4 refills b4 I need a new one, hope I could help. Neeley 07-02-2007, 10:09 PM One of our printers is a Dell. As long as you do not let it run completely out of ink, it can be refilled. We bought black ink at the dollar store and DH just suirts it into the cartridge before it goes completely dry. If it goes dry, it won't take the refill. So for $1 we get the cartridge refilled about 5 times. Amanda W 07-02-2007, 11:20 PM Thanks for the info, Neeley. We have a Dell as well, and I've never refilled the cartridges or bought generics because I'm afraid I'll ruin it. I'll be heading to the dollar store now when I need another one! Judi Dial 08-28-2007, 09:34 PM since DH is a part time photographer. The cartridges aren't cheap, but we buy them from B & H photo in NY, they're online. DH says they're the cheapest he can find them, and he won't use generics or refills, so we're stuck with manufacturer's stuff. JD ilovechocolate 08-29-2007, 06:25 PM Thanks for the info. Ink cartridges always seem to run out of ink when I've just run out of money. mommy4ever 08-29-2007, 06:35 PM I have an epson c88, and I invested in a bulk ink system as I print pictures and do other things that use up alot of in. I get inkin 8oz bottles works out pretty cheap baronmom 08-29-2007, 06:41 PM unfortunately, I have to buy mine from Dell as no one carries cartridges that fit in my printer. Totally sucks!! I have tried the refill route, but it just didn't work well for me. Jessiquita 08-30-2007, 01:35 AM The cartridges aren't cheap, but we buy them from B & H photo in NY, they're online. We have an Epson RX580 at work, and the cartridges at B&H are $11.95 for color ink and $14.95 for black, as opposed to $17.17 and $19.19 at Staples! That is wild. Of course Staples does have free shipping, but B&H is in the neighborhood and it wouldn't kill me to walk over... This is great to know! Thanks so much! :D (relurks) marfalump 09-12-2007, 08:30 PM I used to refill my cartridges.... it was messy, but saved me a bundle... I'm too lazy now. I usually buy them on eBay, as they have the cheapest prices I know of. Also-- I know Laser Printers cost more than inkjet, but you really do save more in the long run. My inkjet can print about 100 full text pages on a tank of ink. My laser gets over 2,000. Judi Dial 09-14-2007, 10:55 PM WOW!!! :surprise: B&H is significantly cheaper than Staples! Anytime Judi Rihanna 06-03-2008, 02:26 PM Well i buy all the cartridges that i need from Inkridges.com C@rol 06-03-2008, 05:21 PM Got a great deal on ebay. I check from time to time. I only use black ink and someone auctioned 3 new black cartridges for the price of one. WhooHoo! ;) pecunierrant 06-03-2008, 06:06 PM I buy the kits for our canon that comes with color & black ink in bottles and we refill the cartridges ourselves. Been doing it this way for a few years and it saves us a ton. This last order came through prinkit, an amazon.com vendor but prior to that we bought the kit that Costco carried a while back (they don't have it anymore) SherryBerry 06-03-2008, 11:31 PM A tried generic but the colors printed totally different, and I bought supposedly the best generic ones too. Now I just buy the name brand (HP) but I return my old cartridges to Staples because they give you $3 credits for each one. Mamaof2rugrats 06-05-2008, 01:28 PM I buy mine at WalMart. |
