Another recipe found in an old magazine years ago.
EN D OF GARDEN PICKLES
Soak several hours:
1/2 c. salt
2 qts. water
2 qts. sm. cucumbers
Cook separately in salted water until crisp:
1 pt. picked onions
2 qts. carrot slices
1 qt. celery, diced
1 qt. cauliflowers
1 qt. yellow wax beans
Drain vegetables. Rinse & drain cucumbers. Place all vegetables in large enamel pan.
Combine:
1 1/2 qts. water
1 1/2 qts. vinegar
6 c. sugar
1/4 c. pickling spices tied in bag
Bring to boil and simmer 5 minutes. Remove spice bag. Add vegetables to hot syrup. Bring quickly boiling temperature. Pack into hot jars.
