Found in an old recipe book over 20 years ago.

BELFAST MUFFINS

1 c. sugar (I use 3/4 c. sugar)
1/2 c. margarine
1 c. milk
1 egg
1 t. nutmeg
1 1/2 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. cinnamon
3/4 c. wheat germ
3 T. molasses
Dates, nuts (optional)

Mix in order given. Bake in greased muffin pans at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
