frugalityisgood 08-04-2007, 06:18 AM I am an autumn lover, autumn is my favorite season. Here is a special gift for all the autumn lovers out there. I made this video back in August of 2006 and it's still one of my favorites for repeat viewing. I watch when I start looking forward to the coolness of autumn.
I feel the short 1 minute and 33 seconds captures how I see autumn in my mind. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
The voice over is provided my non other then myself.

Well said! You took the words right out of my mouth!
ilovechocolate 08-04-2007, 10:31 AM Loved your video-------------I too love autumn but it is so slow:turtle: getting here. This whole next week the high temps will be in the mid to high 90s and the lows will be in the mid 70s here (Georgia). And every year it seems to stay hot for a longer and longer time before it even begins to cool down somewhat. Maybe I should move farther north?!?!?!?
Autumn----the smells, the crisp air, brilliant colors of the leaves----I love it ALL!!!
emily_hope 08-04-2007, 10:36 AM Very nice video. Thanks for sharing. I, too, enjoy Autumn. I like going to the craft fairs, the cooler weather, the beautiful color of the leaves.. it's just a wonderful time of year.
kittykatstrong 08-04-2007, 10:42 AM Thank you for sharing that. I love Autumn and can't wait for it to get here. I love cruling up in the park with a book and a sweater and enjoying those last few moments before it turns to winter.

brainyblonde 08-04-2007, 11:56 AM I loved your video! Autumn is my favorite season! I love the colors, scents and coolness.
jamie79 08-04-2007, 06:37 PM I, too, love Autumn. The crisp, clean air. The leaves all different colors. When a good bowl of stew after a refreshing walk hits the spot. Nights are cooler. My favorite time of the yr.
nwmissourigal 08-04-2007, 10:35 PM I am also an autumn lover. I love the changing of the leaves and bon fires to roast hog dogs on. It is so hot here in Missouri right, that I will most certainly welcome any cooler weather..blessings..Kathy

Total agreement from the shoutheast corner of Missouri, humidity/heat...bad combo, bring on the cooler temps!:cheergrl:
sdrjeolsen 08-05-2007, 01:43 AM nice job on the video. Bring it on, I love fall too. This will be our first fall in the mountains and I'm so looking forward to it. Love tossing the football around and carving pumpkins too :)

Oh my that brings back so many memories.
I'd come in after walking a few miles. My hands would be cold and a bit numb. I felt chilled while I was outside in the mild breeze and 50 degree temperatures. I walk indoors and suddenly I feel my body get hot under my fleece jacket. Beads of sweat form on my forehead. I walk into the kitchen and the light is on, must mean someone is around.. A big pot of vegetable stew is simmering. I can smell old fashion corn (bread) cake baking in the oven. I flip on the oven light and peer inside. The delicious golden delight peaks over the rim of the bread pan. My mouth waters as the fragrant aroma of cooking stew and corn bread floods my nostrils.
There's a state park near where I live, which has fresh stone ground corn mill. Which makes the best corn bread. They grind it right there with a water wheel. It's so good.
frugalityisgood 08-05-2007, 03:17 AM Do you like sticking your hands in the pumpkin and pulling out all that slimy pulp and seeds?
What Mountains would that be?

frugalityisgood 08-05-2007, 03:21 AM I'm in southern Indiana and it's be in the highs of 90's, with like 88 percent humidity. It's not been very pleasant outdoors. It's not even comfortable to go outside and sit on a shaded porch, except at night. It's so the birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.

Ceashels 08-05-2007, 08:36 AM I love autumn as well. I come back to life with those first brisk mornings and it carries me thru to February. March starts beating me down with all that wind and things slowly wilt and fade as the flowers bloom. It isn't until after the August parching of my veggie garden that i can dare hope for life to be breathed back into me in late September.
autumnlynn 08-05-2007, 12:54 PM Well, of course, Autumn is my favorite time of year. I love everything about it. I really enjoyed it when I lived back East.

cab54 08-10-2007, 11:58 AM Wow, I was surprised to see this thread. Usually when I have ever said that Autumn was my fav season, people look at me like I have three heads. Look how many of us there are! I feel validated!
I love everything about it. :cheergrl: The crispness, the colors, the cooler weather.......It seems peaceful and calm in Autumn.
GFNancy 08-10-2007, 01:36 PM Autumn is my favorite too! Where we live it gets very hot, although rarely humid thank goodness. Autumn temps don't really start until mid-October, so it's always a LONG summer.
My husband and I are also homebodys, but his family is full of lets-go-do's. "No, we don't want to go ride on the bike trails in 95 degree heat for three hours for no other reason but to do it, but thanks for asking! Again. Y'all have fun." ;)
When the rain and cold comes people stop picking at us to go and do things they enjoy and they think we should also enjoy. In the autumn we can snuggle down with some movies or a good book, or enjoy our backyard or neighborhood park like everyone else.
I've always loved autumn, but this family just adds to it. :D

Hardy1 08-16-2007, 01:46 PM I love autumn too!! I love the temp getting cooler (ok, I'm in UK so don't have to put up with such high temps as many of you!), the evenings getting darker. I love the leaves falling and seeing them on the paths. I love good hot home cooked food and making loads of trips to the library for books to snuggle down and read. mmmm...hot chocolate too - sometimes with a dash of brandy!

cab54 08-17-2007, 04:50 PM YES, Hardy, the hot chocolate! And I love to put stews and slow cooker meals in the crock pot and smell them all day. (Haven't tried the brandy in the chocolate yet--Hmmmm)
I'm almost sad that it is such a race to see who can get their leaves off the sidewalks (paths) fast enough. I like the color of them, and the crispness, even once they turn brown. At least it is here in the midwestern States. :shake: dh can't wait to see them off the walks and I love the sight of them there. Reminds me of my youth, walking to school.
We are going up to our cabin in the woods, about 6 hours north of here, and will be there to see all the colors of autumn, start to finish. Cannot wait.
Marie78 08-17-2007, 11:58 PM I am also a fan of Autumn :). I love everything about it (except that winter soon follows- that's my least favorite season!).
Hardy1 08-20-2007, 06:33 AM YES, Hardy, the hot chocolate! And I love to put stews and slow cooker meals in the crock pot and smell them all day. (Haven't tried the brandy in the chocolate yet--Hmmmm)

Oooh how lovely - I hope you enjoy it. A cabin in the woods sounds just fab. Maybe you could try the brandy in the hot chocolate there :vibes:

Fall is my favorite season. The refreshing coolness after a hot summer, clear blue skies without the haze of humidity. The leaves changing colors, into glorious shades of gold, orange and red. the sound of them crackling underfoot as you walk.
The stacks of pumpkins squash, and gourds at farmers markets, and local farms. Apple picking and hayrides at the orchards. Soups, stews, and long cooking meals filling a home with wonderful scents. Oh, dont forget the smell of cinnamon and other spices in baked goods. So fragrant that what is baking can be detected as you walk up the driveway. The smell of wood burning from nearby fireplaces and wood stoves, and the neat stacks of wood.
It feels like fall right now. Here around Boston temps are only in the 50's that refreshing chill after a very hot and humid spell. It will reach only the high 60's today. So I have a little of fall right now. But, I cant wait for the real thing. Living in New England is wonderful in the fall, but of course winter does follow.
FrugalMomof3 08-20-2007, 09:02 AM Wow that's video was great and really gives you a perspective on what Autumn "really" is. I love Autumn. :)
I love Autumn as well.

wulong32 11-08-2007, 10:10 PM Autumn is hands down my favorite season! The crisp air, the leaves changing colors, being able to wear sweaters, and dont forget all things pumpkin and apple!

I miss autumn! I'm in Kuwait and there's no autumn. I mean it's cooled down enough at night to have the windows open and stuff, but it's still hot during the day (but not nearly as much as even a few weeks ago). It'll eventually get cold and rainy but there's no autumn. The few trees here don't do much of a color-changing thing. I miss it so much. But I am starting to make more soups and beans and a friend from school brought me 3 cups of cornmeal (hard to find over here) so as soon as I buy some beans I can make cornbread to go with them. One of the signs that fall as arrived is the desire for that stuff. LOL
changed4life 11-10-2007, 12:32 AM Another autumn lover here! I feel so alive and refreshed; so happy and relaxed. You can't beat a cold autumn day, no sun, leaves falling, a good book, the fire roaring and a toasty blanket! Then, when there's left over chili in the fridge and you don't have to make dinner, that's all the better!
SummerM 11-10-2007, 01:12 AM I love Autumn! The weather is perfect, everything is so beautiful, and the world just seems to relax and slow down. :)
