Is there anyone that can help me. My husband makes the greatest pasta sauce. Having a large family he has gotten used to making a large pot. Now the kids are grown, they still come for Sunday dinner and want to take some of the sauce home. I have been putting it in freezer bags for them but would love to can it. Since he cooks the sauce with meatballs and sausage would it still be safe to can ? Just in case a few tid-bits of the meat break off into the sauce. Also, what method would I use ? I have never done this before.

Any tomato sauce can be done in the water bath method. If there is any meat at all, IT MUST BE DONE in a pressure canner. You cannot get away from it.

Canning MUST be done properly or there is always a risk of getting seriously ill.

Here are a couple of websites to help you.
