Alright homesteaders or want to be homesteaders - lets share our week.

This past week has been a busy one here on the homestead.

- I've baked bread a couple of times. I'm still experimenting with different wheats and having fun doing that. I'm glad I have such a great family who are more than willing to eat what comes out of the oven. Cookies and muffins were also baked much to the kids delight.

- I dried the potatoes so they are now ready for storage. I pulled the corn stalks out of the garden and we ate the wee bit of corn we got. Our corn was a real disappointment this year (as was most of our garden due to weather).

- I hand quilted a quilt I've been working on for extra cash to supplement our small income.

- Dh worked on the gardening shed and its all finished except for the door which we will add once our old doors are replaced with new doors. He is now building shelves so that we can store all his wood and we can store all my gardening tools.

- I washed and hung clothes a few times this week. We've had great weather to do that in with high winds. There is nothing like having the fresh smell of hung sheets to crawl into bed with.

- working on the garden took more of my time. I've got most of the garden ready for dh to till. I still haven't gotten all the carrots in, will do that this coming week.

- did some painting on some craft items as I need to get them ready for the craft sales we attend along with having to send some to B.C. for a craft store.

Yes I've been busy, but it feels good. It really is the simple life.

How about you? What has your homesteading week been like?

I hung out clothes on a clothes line for the first time since 1988!!!!

If you all had seen me you would have laughed. I kept looking at the portable, fold up clothes line full of clothes like I had done something really great. LOL I don't have a post in the ground yet so I took a cap off of the chain length fence and stuck it down in the pole. LOL

I baked bread last week.

I will try to think of some more energy saving and satifying homesteading things I can do here in the desert.
