I just finished my About Me page at http://member.ebay.com/aboutme/friendship505/
Please go look at it and give me any help or advice that you can. I have never done this before.
Dh is bringing home the digital camera today (hopefully) so I can take a bunch of pictures.
What site do I list my pictures on or should I just use my hard drive untill I start selling alot?
Do you take checks? Is it a good idea to take them or not?
Any advice or help with ebay would be so much appreciated.

I always just kept the pics on my HD and upload them to eBay. I haven't used eBay in so long that it may have changed though.
If you take checks make sure to list in the auction that you are going to hold them till they clear before shipping items out. Specify a time period... a week or so. I just never took checks... I accepted Money orders, cashiers checks, or Pay Pal.
Make sure you list everything in the auction to protect yourself... shipping & handling charges, what methods of payment you will accept, item will ship when payment is received... stuff like that.
Good luck! Any more questions, just ask. I'm sure I or someone else will be able to help ya.

RECOMMEND THEY PURCHASE INSURANCE AND MAKE SURE YOU SAY IN YOUR AD THAT YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ITEM AFTER IT LEAVES YOUR HANDS.

I upload my photos from my harddrive. I so far have not had any problems with taking checks. It helps if you take Billpoint, they will hold the check until it clears and email you when it is safe to ship.

I also upload my pics from my harddrive. I take Paypal instead of Billpoint. You can put Paypal logos right into your listing, and people can zap you money by clicking on your auction logos. I also take personal checks, I've only been burned once in 3 years. I now hold the merchandise 10 days and state that in my ad. People that are anxious, will send a money order. Others have to wait, regardless of feedback. I usually try to have my stuff go off on the weekend, that way there's more traffic looking at your items.
Before you list something, check out a similar item on eBay to get an idea for a starting price. Also, this will help you see what your item is bringing-just click on the completed auctions.
You can get free Priority mail shipping materials at the US Postal service website. They will mail them right to your house.
You can print out free delivery confirmations to put on your packages. Go to: http://www.usps.com/cgi-bin/api/shipping_label.htm By printing your own, you save your customer .45, and also you can track your package online.
You can ship your books, videos, cds by using Media Mail, it's much cheaper for your customer, although it does take longer. Most people don't mind.
I buy bubble envelopes for my books from shippingsupply.com. That is their eBay user name. I have purchased from them several times. The bubble envelopes end up being .49 each with shipping. They are excellent quality.
Also for shipping media mail, if you use the bubble envelopes, sometimes they get ripped or torn during shipping. What I do, is order the Tyvek Priority mail envelopes from the Post Office. I put my book inside the Tyvek envelope, then inside the bubble envelope. That way if the bubble envelope gets torn, the Tyvek one will protect the item. I get compliments all the time on my packaging. I lost a couple of items before I did this, it really does help.
If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me. I'd be glad to answer any of them! :)
